Beware everyone!!!!!!!
Dell really are a bunch of cowboys, if you just go for the offer specification then there is no problems, but change the spec and upgrade the screen etc then this just throws Dell into dissaray!!!! You will spend more time arguing with someone from India who no about three words of English and wil be constantly past from Sales to customer service to sale to customer service and back to sales. The you get some muppet saying that the error was yours and you need to cancel the order and rebook!!!! oh and as the offer has ended you need to pay an extra £200.
Complete and utter nightmare, stay clear of Dell
You have been warned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
You should've tried checking it before posting, as it is still coming up fine - I got to checkout £499 in a few clicksronaldmacdonald wrote:I think this offer expired ages ago

Can this machine be upgraded to 2 mb or is it a maximum of 1 mb as I looked on their website under acessories and it only went up to 1mb0

2 mb of what?

memory upgrade0

Ah - you mean GB! I thought you might.
When you look at the options for the initial purchase it goes up to 2GB with 2x1GB chips.
So, it is possible, but if you have the 1GB as 2x512mb (like I do) then you would have to replace both with 1GB chips (as I presume there are two slots). However, if you just have 1x1GB then you could just add another 1GB in the other slot.0 -
It seems a very expensive machine to upgrade after you have bought the inital setup. Is this the same for all laptops or just dell? Could I say use 1 255mb and then buy 1 512mb memory card and have a 700mb memory capacity.
How long does the battery last by the way.
Thanks for your help0 -

I upgraded all sorts of things and there were no problems whatsoever. UPS actually lost my laptop in the post and yet I am still here singing Dell's praises as the Indian call centre staff you are so critical of did an excellent job of dealing with the problem.
And the offer hasn't ended, so you don't need to pay any extra.
Dell - 10/10 :T :T Top company.0 -
You could do either of those things yes.pool182 wrote:It seems a very expensive machine to upgrade after you have bought the inital setup. Is this the same for all laptops or just dell? Could I say use 1 255mb and then buy 1 512mb memory card and have a 700mb memory capacity.

And, the battery lasts 2-3 hours depending on what you're doing.
All laptops are expensive. This offer brings the normally expensive Dell down to a similar level to other laptops from less reliable/reputable companies.
I got mine on a similarly good offer a while ago and I love it!0 -
Is it worth upgrading the hard drive to 80gb. I maninly need this laptop for surfing the net but I want it to be fast.
Thanks0
