But without the swearing :-/
I will consider your advice0 -
I don't think we should close threads or delete them.
But we could have a hide function to hide the relevant portion of the message so that only people who respond to the thread will see it.
The tag on other boards is "hide INFO /hide" without the "".
Doing the above can then be left to the posters discretion.
And as for ruining it for everyone, it worked OK with the amazon free item just did not this time with Dell.0 -
It's not the same and it's not case of ignoring it. I have to read it to decide whether to ignore it or not. I for one don't want to see it in the first place.
If you were to use that language at the bus stop while my 6yr old daughter and I were standing there also, would she have the option to ignore it? No. Same rules apply on any public forum.
Freedom of speech? yes? no? I was expressing my feeling towards Dell when I read their cancellation e-mail.
Just want to reply to the your creative example.
Are you browsing this forum or the internet with your 6yr old daughter at all time?
Very unlikely is it? even if you are, you have the option to ask to go away from your computer.
So different rules apply on any public forum.
But really, even if this happen in read life: -
If you were to use that language at the bus stop while my 6yr old daughter and I were standing there also, would she have the option to ignore it?
Not being mean or rude to you, but what can you do
about it?
I feel sorry for you if you think this way.0 -

Well, the title already said it all: DELL PROJECTOR £20!!!
True but it could have also have said "PROJECTOR £20!!! " if the OP wanted it to.0 -
I also received the e-mails today regarding both the Projector and Printer, but I had received the PDF for the printer on Monday which Gameplayers kindly posted a copy on the forum. On checking my Visa today it shows the amount of £32.90 of unavailable funds, the cost of the printer including delivery and VAT. Checking my order status on Dells website, it is stating that we have located your order but cannot advise a status. So I am still hopeful of receiving the printer. Will keep you posted on developments.
copperwood, they have probably cancelled your printer but good luck
I never think the printer was a bargain at the first place. It costs you more to print with that printer, then u print in shops such as Boots or CPW. And quality are worse as well.
So u should consider urself as lucky. ;D0 -

Of course you are entitled to express your thoughts, just leave the foul language behind whilst in a public place. It's not big and it's not clever. Are you browsing this forum or the internet with your 6yr old daughter at all time?
She's often in the same room and can read all by herself. "Daddy, what does **** mean." You answer her.If you were to use that language at the bus stop while my 6yr old daughter and I were standing there also, would she have the option to ignore it?
Not being mean or rude to you, but what can you do
about it?
You'd have me and anyone else in earshot to try and justify your language to.
Are you really trying to justify the use of offensive language in a public place? Incredible!0 -
hmm, you think it is totally unnecessary? who do you think you are?
And why do I have to care about your own personal feeling? give me a reason please?
You should care about anyone's opinion IF you believe that others should respect yours, or give it reasonable consideration. Religious folk sum it up with "Do unto others ...". I'm not religious, but that'll do for me!
Who does s/he think s/he is? Just another human being whose feelings should not be ignored, and who should not be subject to language or actions which may be offensive or damaging.Again, who do you think you are? are you a moderator? if not, please moderate your own language, as you are being rude to me.
I did not find any response to you as rude as you were yourself. I'm sorry if those of us who object to foul language seem priggish, or out of touch. But we DO find it offensive and unnecessary - and your use of it in this context also reduces the force of a word which, when used properly, has tremendous force. You wasted a very useful, but over-used, word. Thanks a lot, I really want to know what MSE Abuse Controller thinks about your post as I think it is totally unnecessary.
I shall be making a complaint to the moderators, too. Your tone is aggressive, and this once again has no place on a public forum. Well, not this one, anyway, in my (OK, not so) humble opinion!Does it help to use this sort of icon to win an argument? " >:( "
if so, i give u: >:( >:( >:(
Back to school, then? Playground stuff.::) Please claim down if I were you, I didn't swear at you, I was swearing at Dell.
Makes no difference, in this case, and think the original objector knew this anyway! More bully-boy stuff. It would be up to, in this case, Dell to disagree with my swearwords and inform the MSE team if they wished to have my swearwords removed from this site.
This message Board has no connection to Dell, and the company would have no say in what is acceptable or unacceptable in these forums (excepting defamation, libel, etc).
We as readers and posters are asked to be self-monitoring, as the Mods can't read everything. That means there are things which people can say which will be unacceptable, and I believe that you have gone too far on this occasion - and you remain aggressive in your subsequent posts.Essentially, it is up to them to have the right procedure in place to stop this happening and then the right procedure to cover themselves.
They have a procedure in place, and Martini and I are following it by pointing out what we believe is an offensive post to the Moderators.
One of the problems with making a complaint like this is that the complainant always appears to be a bad sport or priggish. If you are tempted to think along those lines, there is probably little I could say to persuade you otherwise. I'll wait for someone who is better with words than I am!Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -

LOL, you are just making me laugh. ;DYou'd have me and anyone else in earshot to try and justify your language to.

In real like, you would do what you said? when two man use foul language at their own argue?
You are gonna step in? why would somebody do that? ??? when you don't even know what's going on.
I love to see you stoping ppl using foul language on the street.
You are just saying it cos u want to make yourself looks great and beat me in this argument.
I will let you win if you want, cos you just named two crappy examples.0 -
Just got this from Dell: -
gamekeeper- you sound hysterical.
hope the following help
1) invest your energy wisely, you never know when you might need it
2) try to make sure your anger is directed where it really belongs
3) know when to start setting yourself up for success rather then failure
You are probably even madder now, but this advice is meant very genuinley. Think about it. I think you are probably a very nice person but you sound offensive, argumentative and out of control.
EDITED to remove bad language0
