Fair play...at least they were honest and they responded this time. I think its poor that its taken so long to send this email. A well set up Customer Service Operation (setting them up is actually my field of expertise) would have these types of standard templates pre-drafted and agreed with their legal dept if necessary (an monitored on a regular basis). This would speed up the operation of being able to send emails to customers...a 5 day turnaround to send this email pathetic...added to that an initial communication is a must on day 1 (a wooly one is fine)...it would have taken me less 10 mins to draft this email and less than 1 hour to get approval (hopefully already given).
If Dell have taken the money from you account though that is an entirely different matter and you should speak to your local Trading Standards...as they appear to be in breach of both the Trade Descriptions Act and Distance Selling Regulation; though seek legal advice on this as I not a legal expert. Effectively for a formation of a contract there has to be an offer (Dell's offer on the website), offer to buy (your offer to buy) and an acceptance to sell (you could argue that taking the money from your account is acceptance). Backing out of a contract without agreement of both parties is a poor way to conduct business, it doesnt matter whether the company is large or small.
oops..WAKE UP EVERYONE!! ;D
All in all.....worth a try...time to moveStevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -
Oh well, I got the same Emails.
But it was fun while it lasted, He He.
There will be another one soon but don't reach for the phone and ask them if the price is right.0 -

If they had responded on the first day with this email, this thread would not be 19 pages long, we would all have found more bargains by now and not wasted most of our week reading this....
until the next time,
bye for now!

I got the same email - so being a business made no difference any way. Ho hum, worth a try.
Just got this from Dell: -
No need for this though is there :-/
Ignore my comment if u wish, its just the same as me saying your post is totally pointless.
EDITED to remove bad language0 -

I've not ignored it as I think it is totally unnecessary. I asked people earlier in this post to moderate their language. I have reported the offence now to the Abuse controller. They will take the matter up with you!! >:(Keep SmilingSite member number 24

It's not the same and it's not case of ignoring it. I have to read it to decide whether to ignore it or not. I for one don't want to see it in the first place.
If you were to use that language at the bus stop while my 6yr old daughter and I were standing there also, would she have the option to ignore it? No. Same rules apply on any public forum.0 -

Just wanna say something about this, we all know that Dell has made the decision of not honouring all our orders. Anyone think that this is simply due to the amount of orders they received? its like 26,000 orders were placed, would anybody agree that if there were just 26 orders, the chances of Dell honouring the offer is much higher?
Remember, when the offer first appear on this site was at 1:00am Sunday, only a small group of ppl know about it and some suggest to delete/lock the thread and so on.
Then somehow they failed to do so, as somebody else decided to open a second post regarding to this offer and spread the news to all of us at noon Sunday. Then so many ppl including myself have placed an order.
Some ppl even decided to phone and ask them if the price is right.obviously it causes Dell awared of such problem and shut the offer.
There were discussions on whether it is right to close down an Amazing offer like this as more ppl. The key question has been suggested by some members such as rattla: -The question then has to be asked is it better a for a few to get a genuine bargain, rather than for evryone to get nothing???????
As we can see this time we have picked for evryone to get nothing
So can we try the other approach next time round?
Mod MSE Abuse Controller wrote his comments regarding to this: -Secondly, once you post such an offer for others on the site, it is then unfair for us to remove it so that 'others' dont see it and try the same. A post on here is assumed to be your public voice (the same as if you stood in a room full of people and said it), so think carefully if you do not wish to let others know.
Thirdly, we DO NOT condone mass ordering of such errors to then sell at profit on eBay. This is definitely NOT what MSE is all about and we do not like to see it. If you manage to get something cheaper based on a misprint by the company and they honour it, kudos to you on your saving - deliberately mass buying to sell is not something we wish to see here.
I agree to some extent with his second point it is then unfair for us to remove it so that 'others' dont see it and try the same.
But has anyone considered that letting "others" see will result in Mass Ordering? :-/ which he said he doesn't want to see at his Third point?
Also, it isn't unfair to the "others", consider why some ppl know the offer first, and some others know them not as quick?
Those ppl who saw the offer first deserves it as they are just lucky, they had a higher chance of getting the projectors, but is now ruined by "others".
May I ask you guys, what's your opinion on this issue? What will you guys do next time when a similar offer is found, maybe with another company?
Or are we just going to do the same? letting everyone see the offer and create a mass ordering? and ruin everybody chances?
Cos it ain't gonna work like this if you think about it? can we try something else next time?
by the way, for this offer, i was the second group of ppl who ordered, i just feel sorry for the first group of ppl.0 -
I also received the e-mails today regarding both the Projector and Printer, but I had received the PDF for the printer on Monday which Gameplayers kindly posted a copy on the forum. On checking my Visa today it shows the amount of £32.90 of unavailable funds, the cost of the printer including delivery and VAT. Checking my order status on Dells website, it is stating that we have located your order but cannot advise a status. So I am still hopeful of receiving the printer. Will keep you posted on developments.0

hmm, you think it is totally unnecessary? who do you think you are?
And why do I have to care about your own personal feeling? give me a reason please?I asked people earlier in this post to moderate their language.
Again, who do you think you are? are you a moderator? if not, please moderate your own language, as you are being rude to me.I have reported the offence now to the Abuse controller. They will take the matter up with you!! >:(
Thanks a lot, I really want to know what MSE Abuse Controller thinks about your post as I think it is totally unnecessary.
Does it help to use this sort of icon to win an argument? " >:( "
if so, i give u: >:( >:( >:(
::) Please claim down if I were you, I didn't swear at you, I was swearing at Dell.
It would be up to, in this case, Dell to disagree with my swearwords and inform the MSE team if they wished to have my swearwords removed from this site. Essentially, it is up to them to have the right procedure in place to stop this happening and then the right procedure to cover themselves.0
