Oh for heavens sake... CHEER UP! it's all good fun, and it's nice to dream... there are an awful lot of of killjoys and doom-mongers on this site sometimes!
If we don't get it we've lost nothing... I dunno about anyone else but for me most of the fun of this is in the chase... and if you get a result, it's just an added bonus!
It's great fun trying to screw over these big companies. So let's all laugh at Dell for making a boo-boo!
Steve ;D ;D
I'm with you on this one Cal, the fun is dealing with their stock answers and responses which seldom hold up to any kind of serious challenge that's when you get through to the people that count the beans and make them squirm a little! Now that's a result even if you don't end up with the kit the entertainment that can be got is endless.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
If I offer to sell you a new Rolls Royce for £20 would you believe it's real? Unless there is something wrong with you probably not, same applies to the Dell scenario. 99% of people know they are ordering an item that has an error on it, whether you admit it or not is another thing.
The example you mentioned is wrong!
If you are just a person/trader selling a new Rolls Royce on your own to us, we wouldn't trust/believe your £20 offer at all as it is just too good to be true, more like a scam than a real deal as you don't have any evidence showing you really have the cars in stock and so on, its just gonna be a rip-off.
However, taking the example of Dell, I would believe you if you are one of the largest car company in the world, have brances/office all over the world, selling brand new top models at a decent price for years and has already built up a well known and famous reputation, selling Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Jaguar, Lexus, Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini, BMW, Mercedes-Benz.
And now you come up with a deal on your offical company website: -
new Rolls Royce for £20
Would you, yourself believe this deal? I certainly would, everyone would. Who knows if they have made a price mistake or is it simply a special promotion, maybe the first hundred ppl gets a special discount at a crazy price like that, maybe they are doing this to celebrate their company anniversary, who knows? how can you even be so sure that this kind of things wouldn't happen?
That's why ppl placed an order first, as there were no time for us to think, due to our human nature, we are all too greedy and believe very soon these deals will go cos all the MSE on MSE forum are gonna buy them as well.
Ask yourself, if such a deal turns out to be true, but u didn't order cos u think "They are not gonna honour the deal, 0.0000001% chance", would u commit sucide? ;D i bet u would, LOL.
:P0 -
Oh by the way, I didn't know that the projector and printer were mis-priced at the first place, as how can 2 items at a Dell website be mis-priced at the same time?
Also, they were both under "Special Offer" section, which made me think that they are selling so cheap as they wanna clear old stock.
I didn't know that both items are new products, didn't know that 2300 projector is new, cos there are 2200, 3300, 4300 on the website, and even though i knew that projector is meant to be expensive, I didn't know the price difference was so much.0 -
1 thing is there and I know some people hate me for saying so (esp. some girl that was crying about my post on the nintendo issue lol because she couldn't handle the truth).
oooooooooooooooooh... I think he means me
Crying about his nintendo post......never
Trying to grab a bargain.....definitely ::)
BUT the best thing about his post is that he called me "some girl" (and me a grandmother!)......Joints - thank you so much. That's what I love about MSE.......everyone is sooooooooo nice (well nearly everyone - joints!) :-/0 -
Don't order something unless you are up for the risks, like they are not gonna send it to, charge you full price, charge you non-refundable delivery cost, etc.
Dell are not going to charge full price. When you submitted your order, you stated that a certain amount will be debited from an account, not any amount. You'll Never Be Rich Working for Someone Else0 -
It's the complete opposite of what you said so not a wrong example. My first instinct would be that its a typing misprint. If your first instinct would be that it's genuine, good for you, but don't be dissapointed when they don't give you the deal.
So if a Rolls Royce ad was shown at £20 brand new, I would not believe it to put it simply as my first though would be thats its an error. I don't know, for me that seems pretty obvious.
What you must also remember is that over the web more errors occur than in store, so the companies do cover themselves.0 -
