I lost track by the end of August but will declare at my maximum budget of £100 because it wasn't more than that.

Please count me in for September - £100 for food for 2 adults (all dinners, some lunches, breakfasts for 1). Not including eating out of cleaning things (spearate budget for those).

This month will be hard to keep track of because I'll be travelling most weekends and will have a houseguest on and off for most of the month. This houseguest frequently buys groceries for us and doesn't take the money so it won't be a very accurate GC this time. Still will give it my best shot. Good luck to everyone else!

:(I'm so sorry to hear your sad news Pat. We lost 3 family members a couple of months ago so my heart goes out to you. At the time I did lots of sitting around staring into space with my grumpy old cat on my knee, and I think it helped, so give yourself permission to do whatever will help you - whether it be baking up a storm, or having a few early nights, or cuddling a grumpy cat. :o

Meanwhile I have a hypothetical ;):Dquestion...

If someone who was a universally agreed rubbish cook but who was trying to be better at it :D:owere to make Boiled Cake and it came out very doughy like bread pud with all the fruit sunk to the bottom - what would our hypothetical :o ;) "would be cook" have done wrong?

Oh and ALL my flour except the SR is weevil infested!

Ugh! I will be following the freeze tip from now on.

    Love Jacks xxx :D

PS MrsM Suet-ty type stuff sounds mighty good to me - and it's not even chilly yet! :D:o

  • £120 for me please Mrsm. Back to doing GC now as OH home again. Reducing it a bit also since he has been laid off :(. Have to get back to meal planning. Was quite bad past few month cuz he was away 3 nights a week and I was mostly having something on toast!
  • Hi all,
I'm a newbie and would really like to join in this challenge.
    Allow me to introduce myself...
My name is Lynsey and I am 20 years old. I live in Durham with my boyfriend (Andrew) and his parents and brother. I am following the tesco diets light choices plan as I am wanting to lose weight. Therefore, I buy in all of my food for my diet. I plan for a budget of around £50 a month which is still quite expensive to me! As me and Andrew are trying to save up for a house deposit, we want to be moved out by this time next year! And to get there, we need ALOT of cash behind us!
I usually shop weekly for my food, and so I will update my sig every Monday with how much I have spent.

    Hi Kaat honey,

I know there is another delicious recipe around these boards somewhere, and they are both very similar, but this is the one I make.

    Hope you enjoy!

Someone was mentioning about crumbles, I love crumbles especially in the winder with custard. Does anyone have any different ideas to the normal crumbles, ie apple or rubarb?

    Jackie xx

Strawberries are yummy in crumble - work really well with apples and/ or rhubarb. Raspberries work well with apple. Plum crumble is fab (add some almonds and cardamom or ginger too) Also I've made banana crumble - well, apple and banana, but mainly banana - kind of went all toffee-y :-) Blackberries (with or without apples), peaches, apricots, pears....... Redcurrants & whitecurrants.....

Most things are yummy in a crumble, cos crumble is yum :rotfl: :rotfl:
