Hello All....I'm a complete newbie to this, have been reading for a long time. I love this thread - everyone is so friendly, its great.
I decided to join in, as last month my OH was made redundant from mega bucks job and is now on minmum wage - hence my user name!
But he seems happy - no more work stress! I work part time, we're both currently applying like made for job number 2 and maybe 3 to keep us afloat. Its really focused our attention on household budgets....so can I join in and say £300 for month please? It will keep me on track and also looking at your brill recipes - love the Hob Nob one! :T
I'm gonna learn to use the freezer properly rather than just ice cream/bread storage, and ordered budget cookery books from library. (I can't cook - think its a generation thing, cooking was frowned upon at school, cos we were all gonna be career women - yeah right). :rotfl:
It's great to know there's so many of us all in the same boat and be part of a community of MS's!
PS is a NSD, No Spend Day? Soz to be thickie!:oSeptember GC £300/£336.71  October GC £280/254.16November GC £280/£277.74

Oh heck,me to and have already spent £52,but have stocked up on quite a
few things-tea bags,oil,bread flour,pasta,tinned toms,so don't think we'll starve:rotfl:
DH loves the bread-and-butter-pickle(down-to-earth recipe),so have had to make some more .Said it is the first time I have made pickle that he likes-not bad in 37 years:j
Was given 5lbs green toms ,so have made tom.chutney, green tom pickle, then couldn't resist making piccalli.
However DD2 and GS have been here,I did notice a boxfull of goodies waiting to go in the car:rolleyes: ,not only that she's taken old blankets and pillows for the dog(one way of getting rid of carp;) )Space in the attic now as well.
HM bread in oven, chicken carcass boiling, soup already made for tomorrows lunch(we have a 'soon' lunch on Mondays ,as it is the day for baby imms, always have an hour for lunch but why is it shorter on a Monday?)
Oops, pinger gone, bread ready but I can't smell it so probably needs another 10 mins.

Hello all.
This is my first post for September thread- nine pages already and I have my settings to fifty posts per page:rotfl: .
MrsMc, I put my totals on August thread but I don't think you've spotted them so I'll post them again here just in case. August Target £130 / Spent £122.07:j . September Target £120. (I'm feeling nervous about this:eek: )
So far I've already spent £28.43, so I'm going to try to buy at maximum two loaves (79p each) and one 4pt bottle of milk (£1) from local frozen food store until Friday. Have a friend coming round for tea on Wednesday so will also need to buy broccoli and possible a few carrots. I am serving salmon fillets (frozen form Aldi) £1.59 for two poached in milk and parsley then thickened with cornflour, with steamed veg and mash.
Also If the weather's nice we might be having a BBQ at the weekend but everyone will bring something to put on BBQ so it won't work out too bad.
Anyway back to work tomorrow, and OH starts brand new job after 10 years at last place so feeling a bit stressed out- sorry to anyone whose posts I've missed since thread started. Best of luck to all for September budget:D .2016 MFW OPd £2000, 2015 MFW OPd 3000 then bought new bigger house with bigger mortgage.Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013

Hi Newbie here decided to sort my life out (financially that is!) my target for September is £150, just me and my son (who is a locust!) do you think that is too high or too low a challenge or about right? Never budgeted before thanx0

Our budget for 2 is £120 again please. I got some bits for this week in Sainsburys - only spent £10.72, to this is counting as September now.
I usually don't bother but in September I am going to put all joint grocery spends on my Egg Money cashback card, rather than the joint account, so I can easily see what the current grocery balance is.
Then at the end of the month I will pay the amount from the joint account to Egg, pay no interest and earn a tiny bit more interest on the joint account... plus earn 1% cashback on the Egg Money card. At least I will have the satisfying feeling of seeing all that money in the joint account still!
Today I bought enough groceries for this week for just over £10 so that means we only really have 3 weeks to buy for after that which is pretty good as I have £110 left.
I will use up what I can from cupboards, starting today, with a chopped tomato/mixed beans/lentil and bacon stew served with cous cous.MFW #185
