Update: I've put in a bid on this

Just have to see how it goes. Baby is not due until Jan, so I can afford to be patient and wait for one at a good price.

Boots have a couple of moses basket on sale online for £29.99 look really nice too.Think Argos have some around the £25 . I do think the boots ones look better quality. We had a rocker stand if you were close by you could have it.
This one is nice if your having a pink type baby or this one is lovely and would do either sex.
    Booo!!!

Just an update, incase anyone's interested.

I'm feeling rather smug, because I've just bought a Mamas & Papas crib from the local charity shop for £10. It's condition is good, apart from the bolt that prevents the swing action is missing the end bit that secures it in place. I'm thinking that I'll be able to get another one from the DIY shop.

The crib also comes with a mattress which looks to be in good condition, although I'll give the cover a wash. So all I need now is some bedding...

you should always replace the mattress. reusing mattresses can increase the risk of cot deaths
  • If you can't get a bolt to fit from the DIY shop, M&P have a parts service, the contact number is on their website

Even if the mattress is barely used? It seems to be about 2 inches of foam with a cover - both of which could probably go into the washing machine...

I found this on the net:

Ongoing research continues to support these findings. A four and a half year study by the Scottish Cot Death Trust published in the British Medical Journal (November 2, 2002) has shown that the re-use of infant mattresses triples the risk of cot death (Tappin 2002). Dr. Sprott explains that the risk of death increases when mattresses are re-used from one baby to the next because the fungus has already had a chance to establish itself in the used mattress. When the next baby uses the same mattress, the fungus is soon active. Toxic gas production begins sooner and is generated in greater volume.

I would say as you don't know who had it or how old it is it would be best and safer to replace it? I think this can be done quite cheaply?
