Cheap moses basket

Can anybody recommend a cheap moses basket and stand? I don't see the point in spending a lot of money on something that will only be used for 6-months max. It seems like I can get a basic basket from Mothercare for about £30 and a basic stand for about £20. Can anywhere else beat that?

Hi hun,
Firstly congrats, If you want a new moses basket you can get one for around £30.00 from mothercare as you said boots also had an offer recently with points etc, personally I would buy a second hand stand from the ad-mag etc so long as its sturdy they dont get used much. And you could save yourself a few bob. Hope to help. Im expectin DD2:j:j and Im due on the 27th of September its really daunting..Good luck HTH.. x x x x xMen will say of matrimony : “Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free” While women say of marriage : “Why buy the whole pig just to get a little sausage”:rotfl::rotfl::T0 -

Thanks all. This is my second, but we live in a much bigger house now, which is why I think I need a moses basket - I basically want something portable so baby can sleep in our bedroom for the first few months, and also be able to sleep during the day wherever in the house I happen to be. Then it'll move into the cot which was, until recently, occupied by first-born.
I don't have a carry-cot and would rather not buy one. I'm hoping to be able to put baby into our mountain-buggy when we're out-and-about - which will lie flat - relegating the first-born into the Quinny or making the lazy sod walk a bit for a change.0 -
There is a pop up travel cot on offer at argos ATM for £24.99 I think.
Sorry if it's not what you're looking for but it's a good deal and related, I thought.I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0 -
Try your local Freecycle. Quite often people are getting rid of them. You will probs have to buy a new mattress (£12/15) but you could re-Freecycle it after you have finished with it.
Either that or try EBay - do a local pickup search.

I second the advice about going secondhand, as you say they have a very limited useful lifespan so not worth spending a fortune.Self employed and loving it

Hi only just seen your thread about moses baskets but if you havent found one yet try looking on elegantbaby.co.uk . My friend is due to have her baby in september and i found a fantastic deal on that website. I brought a moses basket for £30 which was on offer at the time ( should have been £80) plus they through in a free moses basket stand which would have costed £20 and a free basket to put your bits in (£10).
So all in all the whole thing should have cost £110 but i got it for £35.00 and that included p & P0
