Hiya folks and a Happy New Year to you all.

There! That's my positivity gone for the year.

Hardly able to come to the board now as just too busy or too tired nowadays.
Work is still hectic with deadlines flying at me from all over the place - and of course deadlines that the partners are trying to meet and just ask me out of the blue to do bits and pieces for them. Still not done the database they wanted up and running for the start of the year and i still need to finish coding that other project i'm doing. I've had literally no time at all to do it at work and when i get home, i'm just drained and can't concentrate properly.

Will need to finish it at home though methinks - it's the only way i'll be able to get rid of the thing. I keep thinking of ways to improve the program, but i've learned my lesson and am keeping my mouth shut. I actually had a lucky escape as a meeting that was meant to be happeneing was cancelled, but i think i'll need to get that project out the way in the next 10 days. I can miss part of it out as there is a difference between the Scottish and English process, but i'll need to get it all working soon.

I think i'll be getting toothache soon - a few niggles already. Probably too many sweeties at Christmas, but i was gutted - i never got my yard of chocolate :(

Christmas and New Year was quite good - went to visit brother and family for Christmas, then they came to us for New year. Gramps was there too. It was a bit loud and gritted teeth from time to time, but overall not too bad. Was glad when it was over as i was really tired, but that's not really changed. Still feel totally drained but i think that's more down to my weight and lack of fitness. I'll need to get on with fixing that as i think i'm at the stage where it could become a serious health problem (or i could develop one).

Going to start slow to build core muscles and hopefully avoid getting any injuries. Just over a year ago i decided to get fit and i'm still feeling the repercussions from that. Neck and shoulders are still sore but i'm hoping that getting into shape will allow me to resolve that. Will try what i heard on the One Show - 4 minute excercise of running flat out for 30 secs, then rest for 30 and repeat. I'm sure i'll get a few strange looks but i can't keep putting it off. Not even sure i can run for 30 seconds nowadays.

Finances are going well. Paid off the LTSB card before 0% ran out (almost - was hit for 43p interest). I put all my pressies and a few lunches on the 0% card i have. Might buy some clothes and put it on there too. I've changed the way i calculate the amount left to pay on the loan - as it's from loaded, i'm just going to show the official amount remaining. If i saved and paid it off early, i don't think i'd make much of a saving so we'll see when i have some funds available - possibly Septemberish.

Looks like i'll need to start looking at making a list (don't say it Buffy ;))
    1. Clear and tidy room.
    2. Complete calculation part of coding project
    3. Complete automation part of project
    4. Do English calculations if not already done
    5. Get fit - keeping notes of calories, excercise and weight

(Note - this info will not be getting put up here :D)
I'm sure i alread signed up to some site - will need to check if i put it into my favourites at work. I remember hunting around for calorie data before and going slightly mad with it.

That's about all from me. Stressed, tired, unfit, grumpy... and a great outlook on life. Who could resist.

Hope you and yours are keeping well.
    George

  • Now then George- we can't have you all grumpy and miserable- tsk!tsk!

I think we should all move onto your diary and drop massive innuendo's to cheer you up :)

You do seem to be doing very well though, and you must be in high demand at work because you are so good.. I am thinking all of this coding is a euphemism for something else- so i can understand the tiredness :);)

I recommend multivitamins the iron will help you keep your blood count up, brain productivity going and you will have more energy for socializing- see problem solved :)

    Hi George,

good to see you posting. Well done on clearing the card with only 43p penalty :D.

Good luck with getting fit - it's all the rage at MSE these days ... give it a couple more weeks & only the seriously determined / foolhardy / bored will be still at it. Just make sure you're not one of them ;)
  • He will Hula- i reckon he will be doing the dreaded Shred along with the rest of us.. :)

George dude you have loads of friends and we are with you. You are calm and collected about it usually work sounds like a nightmare as usual. Can't you speak to them with a way to ease the problem? Bosses like solutions usually even if they like to cut costs. Did they take your project day away? If they have bring it back. If they haven't bloody hell even i can see they are overloading you. Bloody capitalists they have a duty of care to you, can't they give you an assistant (for the basic tasks) for the days when project can be done by you? or can you do project stuff on two days and other routine stuff on 3 days a week.

Can you take a bit of time out everyday go for a longer walk? Running knackers your knees. So walking should be fine or get a mini trampoline from Arg@s (probably in the sale and jog to music) so you have fun too. It will release endorphins. Mine has been sitting in the 2nd bedroom for blooming ages and i am going to use it i promise this weekend. I am trying to eat a bit more fruit - i dont do that 5 portions of stuff but maybe one or two. Have vitamin tablets. Eat nuts as they will combat depression that everyone has because of dark nights etc. How you are not depressed by that project i do not know? If poss try to go for a swim too just once a week and then collapse in the sauna it will sort out the tension in your shoulders. Make the time ok. You come first.

Incredibly well done on the finances. You are nearly sorted. We just have to get more 'George' time in your week. Please look after yourself you are our friend and we want you to be happy and healthy and we know you are wise. After all who else am i going to stalk?
