Student contents insurance

Hi all,
I'm about to start at Uni in a few weeks time and I've been looking for Student Contents Insurance. I've been looking at all the major banks and the cheapest I've found is HSBC who are willing to insure up to £2,000 for £25 for the year!
I'm rather suspicious though, because most other places are charging almost double that!
Does anyone have any experience of HSBC (they are not my bank) Student Insurance, or can anyone recommend anything else?
Cheers!

https://www.endsleigh.com are the top insurers for students. Highly recommended by NUS.Student Debt: £8900 and rising.
Owed to the bank: £2200 and falling.

I've also been looking into this, Is it really worth it ?0

student accommodation is a target for the light fingered. it's usually badly secured and has lots of expensive kit knocking about. and they rarely catch anyone. so it is probably worth it.My signature has been removed by the authorities. A lot of halls now include insurance in the hall fees, so check before insuring yourself.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards. check whether 'expensive' items like bikes and laptops are covered. often the only things that cost more than the excess require additional payment.
it's often worth checking if your belongings can be covered on your parents' contents insurance - doesn't always work but should be the first thing to check.:happyhear0 -
Definitely worth having, especially if you are in a ground floor flat.
Melancholly makes a good point about checking what is covered, endsleigh usually do personal quotes after you tell them exactly what you have (eg. 1 mobile phone worth £xx, laptop worth £xxxx)Student Debt: £8900 and rising.
Owed to the bank: £2200 and falling.

Don't go with endsleigh.
Try www.saxon-insurance.com it is much cheaper, the basic cover is much more comprehensive than endsleigh and so is the excess (the amount you have to pay in case of a claim)Student Moneysaving Expert :beer:0 -
Don't go with Endsleigh, they've been spamming MSE for months, in spite of being constantly reported.0

Yea but endsleigh can cover the laptop when you are out and about, this other one doesnt.0

basic insurance won't cover laptops, cameras, bikes if they are taken out of the room... you have to pay extra for those! (I'm not sure they are included in the room either... the basic covers other things not gadgets etc)
I'm waiting until uni starts and then ask other students!
I'm with HSBC too but I'll be keeping that account normal so I'll probably miss out on the insurance offer.Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later datenow at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!0
