Yep. You have got it.
I can understand the problem then.
But would also like to re-iterate that not all times shares are the same. We are very happy with ours as I have said. I certainly dont feel ripped off - I felt more ripped off in the years leading up to us buying it when we used to have to holiday in crappy resorts!0 -
So what is the general opinion of the masses?
Do we write back to them again, or do we ignore the letter?0 -

I would probably write back to them again, but that is just me, I would be really annoyed and would want some answers from them!
I would write back asking them exactly what you would be paying for and ask them to justify it! (then just dont pay it)0 -

By getting into correspondence with these scumbag thieves it shows you are worried about what they might do.............no-one has ever been taken to court by these lying thieves,if someone has, please show proof ....i wont hold my breath.
Please remember, these low-life crimeshare companies send hundreds upon hundreds of these threatening letters every month, but have you ever heard of any court action or bailiff action?......no.and no-one ever has...............I am alright tho,i have just been left £16,000,000 from a long lost relative in Nigeria, but i will not be sending a reply because it is a load of bullsh!t just like the timeshare threatening letter..........but some people believe it..........do they mean you? they surely do!Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0 -

Do you have a Paypal account? as i for one would donate a fiver for your fighting fund...safe in the knowledge it would never be neededPolitical?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0 -
I would be a bit wary of what Citizens Advice will tell you, judging what they tell people when enquiring about unenforceable private parking tickets. Usually they tell the motorists to pay up, even though the best advice (like above) is to ignore the ever increasing threatening letters from the private parking companies. It has been found that these companies will eventually give up, and move on to their next victims. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

We walked away from our DRI ownership 3 years ago because we couldn't afford the maintenance fees, they didn't pursue us. Now, 3 years later we get a phone call, out of the blue, asking would we like the points back and not have to pay the arrears, what is going on?0

You could just throw your money down the drain and still "enjoy" these crimeshare holidays just for the extortionate cost of the yearly maintenance charges.......if you ever needed proof that timeshare is a scam, then the quoted above previous post should just about proove it.Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0 -
I haven't posted for ages but have followed this thread for a long time, along with The Mirror and Topix websites. It isn't uncommon for you to get a call offering you an amnesty on outstanding maintenance charges. Also comes with a meeting over a weekend at a UK resort. It's a load of rubbish, don't fall for it, stand your ground. I've been down my local court and got the papers, so if they come after me I'll have my reply into the court before they can shake a stick. I haven't paid my fees for years. I also told GE money where to stick their finance agreement. I have court papers for them just in case. Registered now as a default, but otherwise credit is good. I haven't been taken to court for repayment, that says something...GE money are also culpable in the DRI Sunterra scam as they were valuing the points at between £1 and £2 a point hence people were signing away £12k for 15000 points, value worthless!!
I pass by the DRI offices regularly and wouldn't have any qualms about picketing and such like. I also remember the names of the sales manager and sales guy who conned me, I hope to meet them sometime, for a chat.
I have experience of a timeshare owned by a relative and they've had it since 2003. The quality is excellent, management fees still under £600 a year and that's because the £ is bad against the $. Says it all really. DRI another name for "Ripoff."0 -
My advice to all of you is this.....
Dont reply to the letters,
I work for diamond and can vouche that no one as of yet been sent to court. :silenced::silenced::silenced::silenced::silenced:0
