  • be careful with IKEA kitchens. A friend of mine had some hassle with hers. apparently their kitchens dont allow space for pipes &/or uneven walls so you could have issues if you have an older home. also, the cabinet sizes are different to the UK standard so you can't mix and match doors etc. from other suppliers. There was something about the size of the worktop also, but not sure what.

I'm not saying they're not great and at a great price, just double check everything before you buy :)

Just bought B&Q country style doors. Looks great & I think the most expensive door was a glass one which was about twelve quid!

one tip when planning to buy a new kitchen, take a dinner plate with you to check shelves in cupboards. many of the usual bog standard B&Q, MFI etc ranges will not allow the cupboard doors to close properly when it has dinner plates on the shelf.

Try M S Kitchens - they're a wee bit out of the way (about five miles from the moira roundabout on the M1, but very cheap kitchens, and decent people.

The Mourne Observer - newspaper for County Down has an advert in it each week advertising 100's of ex MFI new kitchens at knock down prices - may be worth a look.
