Working from home - KC Computer Services

I received an email this morning (which I deleted) almost identical to RuthFL's except the phone lines opening hours were slightly different on my email ( today Thurs till 12pm), I called the number and was 8th in the queue, after about 5 mins on the line I was 6th in the queue so I hung up. I googled the company and eventually found their website which had no info on it whatsoever about this "company".
The job was advertised on the Jobs Today website ages ago and I'd forgotten I'd applied for it.0 -
I applied for a data entry job via JobsToday.co.uk in November and received a carbon copy email shown here from Steve Chapman last week. I was wary but called anyway, I was told that Steve was unavailable, and given information of a website to visit (https://www.chapmancomputerservices.co.uk). I was also told that should there be no office work in my local area there would be genuine homeworking opportunities processing applications but I would find out more by visiting the website. As a previous poster stated, there was no information at all about office work, no questions to determine where I was based to even check.. after reading through the (identical to kc computer services) site
and getting referred to nethomeworkers and being asked to send £25 for training materials which would arrive by email (a non physical product) I decided to google the company, it led me here.. I'm a member already so should have known to check here first
I was under the impression that I was applying for a genuine office job, I find it very disappointing that with the way things are with the country at the moment, few jobs, higher expenses, that someone is taking money from people with false promises of work.0 -
I have just registered so that I can post about this, although I am a regular visitor to this really helpful and informative site.
I applied for a Data Entry Clerk £8.50 per hour in Swansea everything else appears the same as the other posts, but the name is now AJ Data Services. As I am out of work, I applied, sent my CV and got an email back telling me I had been selected and to ring 08448 243500 and ask for Andrew Johnson quoting DATA Entry Andrew Johnson, this I did and was told "he could not speak as he was busy answering phones as they were so busy. " I was told to go to web site www.AJdataservices.com (or should that be .con !!) and look at the site follow the links then if I was happy to reply by email.
I am so desperate for work I thought my luck was in until I read about the £25.00 training fee and I became suspicious. I looked on money saving expert and saw all these comments, glad I did! well thought I would update everyone about the new name they using. I got this job off a legitimate web site too and will be complaining to them.
Thanks for listening all , BrummieKim0 -
has it taken 80 odd posts to realise this is a scam ?"An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".
!!!!!! is all that about?0 -
I received a txt message today saying the following :
Your Application for data entry clerks. Please ring 0844 8246612 ASAP. Please quote 'Data entry Andrew Johnson". AJ.
Googled, came here.
Saved me a lot of hassle, thanks.0 -

umm, not quite.. we're not all completely stupid.. but as I see it this is a thread warning people of the scam and the majority of replies are people who have shared the experience of applying for a 'genuine' job through, dare I say, reputable companies only to be then asked for money in exchange for non-existent work. They key word there being sharing.
If people continue to apply for this job, which I am sure they will as the 'employer' name is regularly changing.. then surely this thread and all of the responses of people who almost got scammed through it will serve as a warning siren to those who have also applied for the position as advertised in various places and save themselves possibly being ripped off.0 -
I saw a job on the Jobcentre and Reed websites advertising for data entry clerks in variety of cities. The weird thing was they were listed by a legitimate agency. When i applied i received an e-mail from the agency saying my CV had been forwarded to AJ Data Services. I'm a bit confused to how theyve managed to suck an agency into this?0

Is there anyone out there who applied for this - thinking it was a genuine ad? who is willing to talk to further to warn others?
I am a reporter working in the east of england and would like to gather a number of victims to expose this scam. Julian 07747 6027800 -
i applied for this job through the daily record, got a txt saying to call this phone number 0844824500, like a lot of other people I called it
(this was on 15/1/ 2009).
So I called and "Andrew Johnston" was in a interview, (which I see happens quite allot, from another websites), anyway, I told them my name, and my name was on the list, thinking every thing was moving along swimming, I checked their web site, and I had to paid £25 from some “training manuals“, that’s when alarm bells started to ring, so I dunne :rotfl: some research, and it’s a scam.

I also call today (17/1/2009) using the name IVAN DUNNE (Clue, not my real name LOL), and got told that Andrew Johnston, looked through all the cv’s, and he only pick 12 people to contact, me being one of the luck ones :T , I was told yet again the I could work from home or from a office in Glasgow (Gordon Street), and asking about the £25 fee for your “Training Manuel” I was told if you work from home you needed to paid for that, but not if your working from the office, which hasn’t open yet. The office in opening in the first and second week in February, I am really looking forward to that week. :rotfl:
Oh, and on both times I was told that they have a parcel systems failure.
