This is one I got from the Advertising Standards Agency.
Note the bold bit - seems to me if you find our friend in a banner ad, google ad send it off to the ASA.
YOUR RECENT COMPLAINT
Thank you for your recent email.
In order to assess complaints and determine whether there is a case to answer under the CAP Code, we would firstly ask that complainants provide us with a full postal address and if possible a contact telephone number. In almost all circumstances this information is kept confidential; the identities of members of public who complain remain anonymous (so as not to discourage them from coming forward). In order to proceed, we would normally ask that you submit this information so that we could give your complaint our due attention.
I’m sorry to tell you, however, that we can’t deal with your complaint because our Code only applies to certain kinds of material on websites. They are:
online ads in space that’s been sold by the website owner to a third party; e.g. banner and pop-up ads
sponsored search results (i.e. the links advertisers pay search engines to offer when you enter particular search terms) and
sales promotions. We regulate these wherever they appear, including in advertisers’ websites or e-mails. (Examples of sales promotions are free gifts and prize competitions; simple price cuts and savings claims aren’t sales promotions and we can’t investigate them.)
The Code doesn’t apply to other parts of companies’ or organisations’ websites because either they are forms of editorial material (over which the ASA doesn’t have jurisdiction) or they carry material that consumers have chosen to access in much the same way as they would walk into a shop and ask for information. (The ASA isn’t entitled to regulate in-store displays.)
But it’s not unusual for claims like these to be covered by legislation. I suggest you contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau or Trading Standards Department whose details can be obtained from your local council or phone book. Or you might find their websites useful: www.tradingstandards.gov.uk and www.lga.gov.uk.
Our website, www.asa.org.uk, contains more information about the ASA and the work we do. (The “Other Bodies” page has links to other organisations that might possibly be able to help you.)
Although, we can assess your complaint if the material you refer to appeared on TV or Radio (in which case we would need the date, time and channel or station upon which it was broadcast) or if the ad appeared anywhere else then you will need to provide us with sufficient information so that we can locate i.e. the name, date and page number of a publication or the location if it was a poster for example. In any case, you will need to provide us with a brief description of the ad so we can identify exactly which ad it is. However, if the material in question was a piece of direct marketing we would require you to send in a copy of it for us to be able to assess you complaint.
I hope you find this useful and are able to pursue your complaint.
Yours sincerely
xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx

I did a search for KC computer services and came up with this thread. I was going to phone but have decided not to, I wouldn't have parted with any money had I been asked for it so certainly wouldn't have taken it any further.
But it does seem interesting that there seems to be "several companies" running these adverts and then all ending up at the same source.
I guess it was the rate of pay which initially drew me to the position but I guess if it seems to good to be true it probably is. I just wanted some temporary work to tide me over.
Thanks for the thread.0 -
Hi guys, I've only recently applied for a couple of jobs that turned out to be scams (the companies were part of Cobra Marketing, a big pyramid-type scheme). Thankfully I did my research on Cobra after having my first interviews with both companies. Needless to say I didn't go back for the follow-up interviews! Anyway, after that I thought I should be more careful about which jobs I apply to...then I get this email from Reed... "Dear !!0} We notice that you have recently applied for a job with the title "DATA CLERKS" with a recruiter called CHAPMAN COMPUTER SYSTEMS LTD. reed.co.uk have been unable to verify the legitimacy of the organisation and its jobs. The recruiter's jobs have therefore been removed from reed.co.uk whilst we investigate. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that you should never send money to, or process payments on behalf of, recruiters. Should you have any queries or concerns, please contact us using the reed.co.uk contact form: http://www.reed.co.uk/contactus.aspx All the best, The reed.co.uk Team" Great! ANOTHER scam!!!
Glad this site exists! If anyone wants to find more about Cobra Marketing, use this site: http://www.ripoffreport.com/default.asp and search for cobra marketing. The testimonials from ex-employees were pretty shocking!

I am so glad i decided to check this company out, espec after ggogling it, this trusted website brought it up, im a weekly subscriber just for the newsletter usually.
After being stuck in a horrible job, i thought this was to good to be true especially as alot of people are being made redundant at this time, i recieved the advert from our local newspaper job section online, and recieved the exact same email as previously posted by others, however the name was different, Steve Chapman.
Once phoning the number, already with doubts as they were recruiting me without an interview. Once on the phone and being in a que, i finally got through to someone that directed me to a different website www.chapmancomputerservices.co.uk but whilst on the phone, not to steve chapman (what a surprise) they were saying there headoffice was at london, and if my area didnt have any places it would go through to the work at home section, however it didnt even ask my area before directing me to the www.nethoeworkers.co.uk so even after all this tie this thread has been open, they are still scaming and to avoid at all costs, i just hope they dont do anything with my cv, and have been thinking about now readjusting it to protect myself in the future.
Thanks everyone for the headsup on this company, as i may have gone for it if hadnt come across this thread!
:beer:Remember, be nice to members of bank staff, you'll be surprised at how much they will help you! But they dont have the powers to refund everything without sending it up to regional offices for authorisation!:D0 -

How to apply
You can apply for this job by sending a CV/written application to Steve Chapman at CHAPMAN COMPUTER SYSTEMS, Box957 Office 6 Slington House, Rankine Road, BASINGSTOKE, Hampshire, RG24 8PH, or to applications@chapmansystems.co.uk.
I visited my local job centre in Manchester to locate this job, printed it off and came home and e-mailed an application, even sent my bloody CV!!
The advertisement seemed, on the face of it, a good one so I applied as I say, but a month later today I have had exactly the same e-mail back. I thought the e-mail itself was dodgy, it didn't even address me and came with the familiar bold type and underline for emphasis which a real company with a real job would never do. I am due to sign on for my JSA at the job centre tomorrow and will be mentioning this to them - i'm furious they have allowed such a job to be advertised.
I've had experience of these types of scams before and I would NOT advise anyone follows up the application.0 -
i got this email through earlier today, im so glad i googled it. i did think it was very strange! i couldnt find anything online so typed in the number and it got me straight to here.

There is virtually no vetting of Job Centre adverts. Businesses can place their own adverts on the Job Centre website with no intervention fron Job Centre staff at all. And Job Centre adverts cost nothing!0

Just started a thread called 'Conned by Job Centre' then came across this thread again. (Mods feel free to delete my other thread).
My friend got sent an email from chapman computer services. On the email it told you to go to their sister site nethomeworker.com.
Suprise suprise its the same scam. Still asking for £25 joining fee. Still trying to con people.
Please be careful with this company. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
I recieved this in an email today, I googled the phone number quoted and it directed me here
