A cheaper place won't necessarily have cheaper utilities.

True - but a smaller one should!

I maybe wrong here and please forgive me if I am, but dont a lot of companies estimate at first and then hit you with a huggge bill so you are stuck with them for years paying it off, this was my unfortuanate experience with npower, I switched from eon and thought crikey miles cheaper and then wham!!!! now I stuck with them, I would say if you are cheaper than the smaller house I would check this out, like I said maybe wrong and hope I am

I'm sure you'll always read your meter yourself after having that experience. Were you anticipating on moving to a smaller house or just a rented one?

Absolutley, must admit though a bit naive of me.
We would move into a smaller house, we have a 4 bed det and it is large, and really no need for it a nice little semi would do us, a home is what is in not the bricks and mortor (oops sorry is speling wrong) but you know what I mean.

After falling prey of estimated billing from scottish power (thanks guys really helpful you were...not!) i've made sure that I read every meter gas/elec/water & provide them on the dot when requested.....and as silly as it sounds we are working out cheaper than a smaller place we moved from

Brilliant, wish I had known sooner, maybe the house is more eficient ie boiler etc, ours isnt great on that respect, we are very strict with the heating and electric but just not an eficient house at all

We've always used more than average on utilities no matter where we live.

    Hi everyone

Well we decided that as we seemed to be in -equity that it may be better to hand the keys back to the mort gage company, we are moving into rented

But I feel so scared, we did what everyone suggested and talked to family who all said they supported us but now oh family only ma in laws side (as split from father in law) have said that they dont approve, so you start to doubt yourself, are we doing whats right.

If we stay where we are, as I said before we are on interest only which will be hiked up in a year and half we will never be able to get back onto repayment here (just wouldnt be able to afford it, or dont like the house to want to do this) we cannot rent it out as we have too many probs with it, ie roof leaking etc.

So would we really be any worse of he we did finally do it and rented, we have looked into worse case scenario and have spoke to cab and insolvency line who have told us what could happen.

We realise that with vol repo it may not even get to br but are thinking worse case, we are going to save like mad when we move incase we are br or ccjs so that we have 6 months rent in advance (someone on here gave very good advice about contact letting agents, we did and was told 6 months in advance or a guarantor).

If this is the right think to do why do I feel like im going to have a eaert attack, daft question but did everyone else feel like this.

    should we go or stay
