Thanks guys again for all your help. I think that after some discussion were going to be looking at Avonmouth/Westbury-on-Trym/Yate or even possible Weston Super Mare. Were fully aware rents will be more expensive but for what we want guess we'll just have to grit our teeth and bear it!0

Ooo my friend lives in Weston - its actually very nice. Apart from that one weekend a year when its T4 on the beach!
Rents out there are quite cheap I seem to remember and you usually get a parking space...0 -

I've been through it on a train thats about it...looks nice enough!
I think when I've thought about it, what I want is something similar to what I used to live in, a village half an hour drive from a town with a local community and houses...not a load of developments into flats. So Weston may be my next place to look along with the outskirts of Bristol0 -
You could try Pill - it's on the opposite side of the river to Avonmouth, and is a village with quite a nice community feel (it's where I was brought up) and surrounded by lovely countryside. It's about 6 miles from Bristol but also close to the M5 (junction 19).
