Chris2685lol, fair comment. I am really confused as to whether this would be a good time to buy or if I should just pull out of my purchase and just rent.. It really is annoying to not know
I'm with you on this one. 'Shall we stay or shall we go?' Currently going..... but reading the comments has me wondering (worrying!?):o whether this is the right decision. Time will tell I guess0 -
Take a look around you on here. There are generally reasonable people who are warning about a coming price crash. And there is the nutcase PickledPink for the opposing view. That alone should be enough to convince you.
Well this nutcase is solvent, mortgage-free, and owns a beautiful home.:p

Personally, I WOULDN'T advise buying right now, unless you feel that you have found a once-in-a-lifetime property OR if staying where you are for the present, would cause you a lot of harm/upset I.e. Bad area, neighbors, access to get to work Etc.
You need to take everything into account but that property WILL be around for a long time yet as MOST potential buyers are holding off, for the time being.
No-one knows the right time to 'go for it' but most of us know that now, is definitely NOT the time.
If you are in a flat and the landlord offered you a rent free period for the next twelve months and that he would PAY you £1000.00 every month on top of that, ask yourself, WOULD YOU STAY?
Not knowing the circumstances but, chances are you would be saving at least that by waiting.
The only thing that you have to consider is IF you are borrowing the money to make that purchase, will that borrowing be available later -- and THAT could be doubtful.
If you are still determined to go ahead then I think you are justified in offering another 10-15% reduction to the seller based on the FACT that we are in a declining market. I know mewbie... It's a head over heart thing and it really is going to be heart-breaking to let this property go, but my head knows I will be steamed if property prices plummet and we could buy a similar property for half the price in a years time...
chris - if prices fall 50% over the next 12 months you will find it very difficult to buy a property - unless you have cash0 -
Can`t hang about, got a meeting shortly. Just had a phone call from a friend in Wales. Last weekend his relative got £60,000 knocked off a quarter of a million pound house near Cardiff. He has had a very good offer on his current house and the developers have said that if his prospective buyer drops out they will honour the deal and give him the same price as a part exchange.
Looks to me like nearly 30% off the asking price!0 -

Having read a lot of these threads it does seem obvious that there are only very few good reasons to buy now. So my question wouldn't be 'should I buy now' but is really unanswerable- when SHOULD I buy, is it ever going to be an option for me... am I waiting for something that will never happen? And of course you can't answer that!0
