Fingers crossed for you BB. I hate to say it but I wouldn't hold your breath though. The DLA people are becoming VERY strict now... much to the point where people who are already on DLA are having it stopped even though their circumstances haven't changed and they genuinely have the care/mobility needs, because they're cutting back on the amount of DLA paid out. So unless it is very obvious that you have care/mobility needs I would personally be very suprised if you received it, or if you do expect to receive the lower rate.Burlesque_Babe wrote: »I feel a bit
about admitting this, but I've just submitted a DLA online application form. Over the years I've just 'got on with it' and fitted my life around it and feel a charlatan for even considering it, but, it's in now and they make their own judgement.
Sorry.

we are all different, makes us human

you are right to make adjustments, but if the government can help you with that, is it wrong?
Are you entitled to mobility for driving?Frustrated in Shropshire....0 -
Next door's cat is snoozing on my front lawn at the moment. She looks so cute.
I doubt it Marky - when I first injured myself I didn't drive for 2 years because of the pain and the problems with my leg not 'working' properly. I could probably have applied for a blue badge but I wouldn't do now as it's not that serious to need one anymore.
Actually - just checked - apparently the mobility allowance is now part of DLA. I didn't see a section about driving when I did the form and I've submitted it now, but I guess I wouldn't qualify. In a low seated car I have a bit of a problem getting in and out as a passenger and I hate having to get in the back of any car because my left leg is weaker (hard to describe) but that kind of thing didn't come up specifically. Maybe I should have included it on the 'when outdoors' section but hey ho.

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -

have to confess, I am more a doggy person than a cat person. Far too independent for their own good those little moggies - they only need us when it suits them!

The mains things you need to focus on are your care and mobility needs and how this effects your daily life. They need (but don't neccesarily get) to see that you need help to live an everyday life.. this can include driving etc as the mobility component is a seperate part of the DLA. If your needs are only to do with your mobility you probably won't get Care component but may get mobility... does that make sense?Burlesque_Babe wrote: »Next door's cat is snoozing on my front lawn at the moment. Dogs have owners, cats have staff
