The seventh day of the week, the day commonly known as Saturday, is the Sabbath day of YAHWEH the Almighty God of Israel. It was ordained of God as a day of physical rest for all mankind.

I read a story about Nigel Planer and his back trouble and Linda may be able to elaborate more on this. Well he had such back bad pain that he had serious trouble sleeping for years, IBS, neck problems, posture problems and he contemplated sucicide because it was runining his life. Anyway, one day he went to the dentist and he was told that his bottom jaw was further out than his top jaw, which meant he was biting wrong. Anyway they cured this and it sorted everything out. Just little misalignment of of his jaw that was making him bite wrong affected all that. Outrageous eh.

Blimey - that is mad. Unfortunately I know mine is a very damaged disc and a knackered main nerve (my spinal cord got very squashed) which can't get any better. It has changed a few aspects of my life but I just changed my life around them. I was given the option of surgery byt he neurologist at Southampton when I was an inpatient but I turned it down and I'm glad I did as the long term prognosis wasn't good. If I'd had the op. I could have ended up in a wheelchair immediately afterwards and even if I didn't I could still be in permanent pain (I thought - what's the point then!). I spoke to a pain specialist where I was working at the time and she said not to have it done as she has some patients who had the surgery 10 years ago and are now in a wheelchair _pale_ Think I'll stick to drugs, no high heels, gritting my teeth and a numb leg thank you very much!!!

That sounds awful BB - do you get DLA? Then you could get WTC - might make things a bit easier for you.

No, I can't get DLA (I don't think!) as I've got savings. Do they count?

When I went through all the carp with Cruella, she tried to get me to change the way I worked (part in the office, part working from home with a dial in to the work server) and I said my condition was covered by the Disability Discrimination Act as I am (although I never 'use' it) classed as having a disability and therefore she couldn't 'make me' work full time in the office - I'd have been off sick within a month :(

First thing she did? Wrote to the Occy Health GP and basically asked her to get me to prove it. The GP is lovely and I'd known her for years and was disgusted. She sent a really snotty letter back to Cruella saying that I did have a condition covered by the DDA and she said the only way I could work full time in the office was if they could 'provide a sofa for me in the office to sit on all day where I could feel comfortable'.

    That told her !

Edit: blimey.........I've just read a kind of check list on DLA.........I say 'yes' to lots of the questions!! Don't think I'd ever claim it though, I've just 're-worked' my life I guess and get on with it that way.
