Well if you actually bothered getting your car serviced, you'd have had an idea yourself as they'd have informed you at the last service the pads were low.

Another dangerous badly maintained wreck on the road.

Good news is though that instead of it just costing you a £20-£30 set of pads, it's going to cost you the thick end of £100 with the discs as well.:rotfl:

Thanks for the unhelpful answer Conor, much appreciated! Maybe you'd like to hear the circumstances before you give out your lecture on car safety??

For starters, its a company car so isnt costing me a penny to put right! :rotfl::beer: Its not a "dangerous badly maintained wreck" either, its always fully serviced and maintained as and when required. The brakes pads only went a few days ago, and I've just not had the time to get it into a garage (work as a Field Engineer so always out on the road). The garage never said anything to me about needing them replaced at my last service, otherwise I would have done so!!

The good news is though, its getting sorted this morning.

I dont need a lecture Conor, just some advice. Save your lecture for someone else who needs one??

damn:mad: I agree with Conor:mad: Hate people skimping on basic servicing, and brakes too. Get them fixed before they fail and wipe out if we're lucky, just you, if we're not maybe a line of people waiting innocently at a bus stop:rolleyes:

But I dont skimp on basic servicing, its a company car thats serviced at regular intervals

I hate people that jump to conclusions, without knowing the full facts!

  • What a waste of a thread, give ower man, just leave it in and get it fixed, it's costing you nowt, what do you really care. Leave it in, tell them you need a courtesy car, drive out and go to work, drama over.

    Good grief

So either the pad material separated (unlikely), you've done lots of braking since last service, or more likely the garage doing the servicing didn't bother to check the pads (in which case I wouldn't take my car there to be serviced).

Yeah, a waste of a thread where folk posted stuff that was irrelevant to my orignal question....

Problem is though, my car isnt serviced by a main dealer. Its serviced by HiQ so there's no chance of a courtesy car!

I fear the garage obviously didnt check, as I was only in there 3-4 weeks ago getting new tyres and I thought they would have checked then!

I dont have any choice to but to take it there, thats where the leasing company say its to go.

No worries now though, its all been done.

My right nut says there was nothing wrong with the disks, I bet all it needed was pads.
What did your left nut say? Or has it been struck dumb or something?

You are not insinuating that Kwik Fit change things for no reason??

Oooh - shock horror etc. :D

No disrespect - but thats cheap.... I like a bargain, but I don't like cheap discs and pads. I like a good price and good quality pattern parts.

A reputable factor I have been using for years supplied me with them, I did get a slight discount and Ford parts are pretty cheap anyway. If they were in any way substandard I would have gone up in price, the disks were a beter grade of steel than the Ford originals.
