"Crunching" brakes

When mine went Ford couldn't supply just the bushes due to the way the subframes are assembled. You had to replace the entire subframe (complete with Bushes).
Cost at that time was around £400.
They did start supplying kits after I had had mine replaced for Poly's.
£160 fitted is a good price for an exchange unit.0 -
Never ceases to amaze me.Isn't it amazing how the manufacturers can suddenly find the ability to come up with a cheaper solution when third party companies bring them out?
Some of our customers import the bushes or parts separately from the States as they are available there - and cheaper than if available here, even when have to pay duty.
Conor, have you bought/tried that cider stuff yet?
Where'd the sun go.... ???Genie

Last week my car started making a funny noise when breaking - but not all the time. I was unsure of what it was but when I read the thread on here decided it must be that and took it to Kwik Fit.
Both had gone so they fitted new pads and Discs for £130 quid just like someone had said they would cost. Im glad I saw the link and had the money to pay for the replacements. In regards to the comment about people not servicing there cars....there is a reason and it all comes down to what money you have at the time. However if I know there is something wrong with my car I get it fixed straight away as like you said its not safe for me or other drivers.
So thanks for the advise- as a newby I found it very helpful!!!0 -

My right nut says there was nothing wrong with the disks, I bet all it needed was pads.0

Problem is you paid for discs you would not have needed had the car been better looked after. Also just think of the safety implications. You did not have your car serviced and something serious happened to the brakes which was avoidable (the pads wore out). What if something more serious happened with the brakes that stopped them working altogether? So instead of a proper service and replaced pads, for the same money you've replaced your brake discs and pads and your car and purse are all worse off for it in the end.
Not servicing your car is false economy. In the long run you'll pay more out in needless repairs, replacement cars, and your fuel efficiency will be poorer too so it will cost you more to run.
You can attempt some servicing yourself like oil changes, spark plug changes etc - of you want to save money on it. A haynes manual for your car will also explain how to check pad thickness and explain the minimum amount of pad there should be remaining.0
