"Crunching" brakes
Whenever i apply my brakes, I get a really loud and horrible "crunching" sound from the 2 front wheels. Also get the noise if im driving at a low speed. Sounds like metal scrapping against metal, so Im guessing that I need my brake pads replaced??
Also alot of black brake dust on the 2 front alloys, and when i washed them with cold water there was steam coming from the wheels.
Any idea's?

Well if you actually bothered getting your car serviced, you'd have had an idea yourself as they'd have informed you at the last service the pads were low.
Another dangerous badly maintained wreck on the road.
Good news is though that instead of it just costing you a £20-£30 set of pads, it's going to cost you the thick end of £100 with the discs as well.:rotfl:0 -
Conor,
Feeling a tad prickly tonight? Lighten up its a long weekend, have a beer, or if you want to relax Goldspangles style, try a few litres of good Scotch Whisky and a packet of salt and vinegar crisps....Genie

damn:mad: I agree with Conor:mad: Hate people skimping on basic servicing, and brakes too. Get them fixed before they fail and wipe out if we're lucky, just you, if we're not maybe a line of people waiting innocently at a bus stop:rolleyes:0 -

Sounds like metal scrapping against metal,
If you get the pads changed within a few miles you can usually reuse the discs.Happy chappy0 -
