Getting PAC code from Orange PAYG?
Comments
-
Orange UK
If you request a PAC from Orange they will tell you it over the phone as well as send it out via a letter, through Post which can take 2 working days excluding the bank holiday. If a customer does not receive the PAC within the time scale given, they must contact the Orange Loyalty Dept. to chase up. Caution - if you decide not to use your PAC within 30 days, then your contract will not terminate.
Orange will issue a PAC to pre pay & pay monthly customers via letter only. This can be requested by calling 450 from a pay as you go phone, or 150 from a pay monthly phone. Customers can also dial the following from any other phone. PAYG: 07973100450 PAYM: 07973100150.0 -
Interesting, I called Orange today and they hung up on me twice when I asked for a PAC. I rang again and once I got through to the 'human' I was cut off! So much for being 'committed to excellent customer service'.
Can anyone help?0 -
Don't bother with a PAC code from Orange. They'll charge you the earth and take forever.
Swiftsales714 on ebay unlocked my Orange Blackberry within hours for £4.import this0 -
It is something of a mission trying to get through to the right department for requesting the PAC, but eventually I found a way through dialling 07973100450 followed by options 2 - 1 - 2 - 2 (which is for getting a new phone / sales type of dept.). The first adviser put me on hold and eventually transferred me to a very friendly sounding person who was asking how I was etc and then wondering why I wanted to leave. When I stated that I wasn't getting any reception from Orange at home and I have other family members on the Vodafone network, they didn't try to push it and just stated if it was a pricing issue they could try to do something about it but because of reception etc they couldn't exactly move the phone masts.
So if you are on Orange pay as you go and want to try your hand at getting better call rates or some other incentives, you could try ringing up the support number and requesting the PAC, and when they ask why you want to leave you could mention that another network is giving cheaper call tariffs or free texts/internet or whatever and Orange may try to offer you some freebies or incentives to stay with them. You could probably try this with any network.Shin: a device for finding furniture in the dark.0 -
It does appear that orange are reluctant to give out pac codes and hopefully oftel will have noticed this
We finally managed after 7 attempts @25p each attempt to get them to send us the pac code by telling them we were moving to voda
They refused to refund/credit the extra calls it took to get the pac code
Dial 450 then options 2 4 then lie to them otherwise you are put on hold and then disconnected0 -

i just phoned for mine (monthly plan) and the bloke said that they send it out in a letter which can take up to 5 working days and they can not give it to me over the phone. I challenged the chap on this saying that "ive read this that and the other on the internet", but he was insistent that they send it to their technical team whom then generate the code and then it's sent out.0 -

They used to give them over the phone (I used to work in one of the front line depts), but it ended up with the dept that issues them spending so long generating them there and then they got nothing else done ! (and yes, that's a staffing problem, but its the management that set staff levels not the dept). I 'think' they're all batch processed now at the end of each day...0 -
I called 450.
Reached a live operator.
25 pence call.
Requested for a PAC code.Explained the Orange network at home is very weak (both O2 and Vodafone are better). I even tried using a friend's orange, both had the same problem.
They put me through PAC Team, who agreed to send the PAC by post in 3-5 days.
I would say, I am a happy Orange customer, but leaving with PAC only because of reception inside the house.0 -

I phoned again 2hrs later on the pretext that I was unable to top up my phone and could they check my details. This time they had my correct address! I hope to receive my PAC code by post in 3 to 5 days. Can't help but think the first response I got from Orange was a deliberate one to try to keep me with them.
I am afraid you are incorrect it normally takes 24 hours for the address to update from one system to another system which is used for PAC generation0 -

Thats crap ! Its not sent out by the technical team as soon as you ask for a PAC its generated there and then ! And could be read out to the customer however Orange insist in sending it to you. Have no idea why !0
