Getting PAC code from Orange PAYG?
Hi
What is the number to call to get your PAC code from Orange pay as you go? I've tried 450 but it doesn't seem to have an option for transferring your number.
Also, i might have a slight problem in that I got the sim card for free off a friend who got it off someone else who I think has registered it in his name and details. Will this cause any problems in transferring my number as there is no way I will be able to contact the original account holder.
BTW-I transferred my number from old 3 contract to Orange PAYG and now have a new 3 contract which I want to transfer my number to...if that makes any sense

If you are not the rightful owner of that PAYG SIM, i.e. cannot pass their security checks, they will not issue you with a PAC code (you could be anyone ringing up) so you are stuffed with out that information. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

You should of had a security check. Do you know the password and 4 digit ID code? If so you can do a customer account transfer and have it transfered into your name first. :beer:0

How did you manage to transfer your number from 3 to Orange PAYG in the first place if you didn't have a password - wouldn't they need that (for the old Orange number on the SIM that your friend gave you) before accepting the transfer in?

There is no automatic way to get to Cust Service or the "The Damed" as they call themselves. (I know as I use to work for Orange in the good old days before it was sold to Voda). If you want to talk to Cust Service do not use the keypad on the phone when asked security questions, you will be automatically routed to a human! After giving your security answer you can then ask pleasantly please for the PAC code.
Addendum: I use to work for the Porting In/Out dept and the use of PAC codes is a lot easier than the old system that involved faxes. (Good old days).
Well good luck everyone and have a happy life.0 -
So does anyone actually know the number to ring?My views are irrelevant - censorship is alive & well!0

I've just done this. I rang 450 and chose the option for problems with phone (option 2?) as there isn't one for PAC codes. They put me through to retentions. They refused to give it to me over the phone though so have to wait 3-5 days for it in the post0

I contacted Orange today to get my PAC and I was informed that the address they had for me was incorrect and I would have to wait 24hrs for security reasons. I phoned again 2hrs later on the pretext that I was unable to top up my phone and could they check my details. This time they had my correct address! I hope to receive my PAC code by post in 3 to 5 days. Can't help but think the first response I got from Orange was a deliberate one to try to keep me with them.0

Is there somewhere online that i can request it?.... i can't see anything in my account section.A banker is someone who lends you an umbrella when the sun is shining, and who asks for it back when it start to rain.0

Don't think so, I believe you have to 'talk' to someone to clear security before they can issue one.0 -
3-5 days? they quoted me 14 days! plus they wanted to charge me £20 to unlock the thing.0
