    Many Thanks Jayar,

I presume when it comes to the microwave allow similar times and power as a ready meal.

Wish I'd done this a long time :rotfl:

  • I know it's Ok to freeze white rice once it's been cooked and cooled (carefully). Does the same apply to wild rice? I assume it does but just wanted to check that nothing weird happens and that there isn't a serious drop in quality in the thawed product.
My eyes! The goggles do nothing!
  • I've frozen wild rice (and eaten it) with no problems. The wild rice I had took ages to cook, and as you don't need a lot of it (I mix it in with white rice as I find the taste a bit strong on its own) I did a whole batch and froze portions of it in the freezer. I found it kept its shape and texture pretty well.

As with all freezing you just have to be careful to let it cool before freezing, don't leave any rice out overnight, reheat it thoroughly afterwards etc. which I'm sure you know already!

I had people for dinner on Tuesday and did too much rice. I put it into the fridge and wondered if I can freeze it? Or do I have to throw it away?

I always freeze my left over rice and have never had a problem with it.
Sometimes i thaw and reheat and sometimes reheat straight from frozen which i prefer.
I know that there can be issues with reheating cooked rice but i always make sure it`s very hot when reheated, i make my own ready meals and freeze - things like curry & rice etc.

The FSA advises caution. I like to live on the edge, so have eaten frozen and thawed rice, and am still here to tell the tale.

Me too Penny!:rotfl: All I'd say is if I have leftover rice, as soon as I've served it , the spare is cooled quickly by rinsing in cold tapwater, then straight into the fridge or freezer.
