E.On to raise Gas+Elec prices

For people planning on switching away (from their online tariff) remember that E-on's T&C state you don't get the discount on your 'last' bill. So you have to weigh up whether it is better to switch away sooner (and avoid this increase altogether but lose the discount on usage since the last bill) or later - e.g. just after a bill (then vice versa applies).0

Good point. :T I should add however that before the announced increases by BG and E.O.N, BG were in my case around 48.00 a year cheaper than E.O.N.
With my Gas usage being minimal the announced electricity increases by both means that BG will be even more cheaper than E.O.N in my case ( it appears
)
You might say, well, why did you switch to E.O.N in the first place, reason being that E.O.N usually only offer 50-55.00 cashback, I caught them at a time when they were offering 70.00 cashback which makes up for the disadvantages of higher charges and loss of discount for the short time involved.
Also BG cashback did recently dip to 55.00 from 60.00, seeing I could get 60.00 told me that their was no time like the present to apply to switch away from E.O.N.0 -
I checked online and my standing charge for E.ON electricity appears to have risen from 19.3935 to 37.338p, and gas from 8.2845 to 21.8295p. My unit prices have gone up, fine. Why do the wholesale price fluctuations affect the distribution of gas and electricity to my home, e.g. why has my standing charge gone up by around 92% for electricity and 163% for gas overnight ?

Anyone else on E.ON Standing Charge tarrif checked their online rates this morning?0 -
E.ON have explained to me that the primary threshold has changed and this is the reason why the change appears very large, but is balanced out almost entirely but the threshold adjustment.I checked online and my standing charge for E.ON electricity appears to have risen from 19.3935 to 37.338p, and gas from 8.2845 to 21.8295p. I have a theory: I think the very recently discovered (at least for us non-self appointed experts) 'fact' that gas prices are linked to the price of oil is missing further clarification. I believe they omitted to say it only seems to apply when the oil price is increasing.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Checked new prices on line and for Electric my standing charge has doubled and the unit rate has increased 1.5% overall this is a 21% increase for the year after discounts0

Just looked at my Energy online V5 rises :eek: and notice the V8 is the old (yesterdays) V5 prices. Are they going to raise those too? I assume it includes the online and direct debit discounts. Might need to give them a ring before changing.0

Why do you think they aren't raising all prices except any capped/fixed rate customers? Everything will be going up, except those that have some sort ot protection factor included in them.0 -

I noticed this too. V5 says "No Hidden Costs" but V8 doesn't - so, like you, I wonder if we lose our discounts if we switch to V8? Eon have done this frequently before though, increasing the tariff that most people are on and introducing a new tariff at the old prices so that it looks good for anyone using price comparison websites.0 -
>gas prices are linked to the price of oi<
Assume demand rise for both due to industrial use and seasonal demand for heating. Plus Russia is withholding supply to increase income to rebuild its army.0
