Well, firstly your email problem is unrelated to your computer's performance, so that's a separate issue which I'm afraid - other than junk mail filters - nothing can fix.
Regarding your PC's performance, it's one of two likelihoods (or both):
1) Your PC isn't "good enough" (to put it bluntly!) for the things you're asking it to do. However, if your PC has previously worked fine, and it's only recently that it's become slow, it's probabl...
2) You have some processes running which are "hogging" all of your memory.
Number 2 is very likely the culprit.
Here's my advice:
1. Following this link, click "Download Now", and install that to your computer.
2. Open up the program (called "Security Task Manager") and click "Continue". You should see a big list of items appear under one another. Maximise this window.
3. On your keyboard, press the button called "Print Screen". It may be abbreviated to "Prt Sc".
4. If you're running XP, click "Start", click "Run" and type in mspaint.exe
5. Click OK
6. When "Paint" has opened, click "Edit" and "Paste".
7. Click "File", "Save", and then choose an accessible location to save it to such as your Desktop.
8. Go to www.imageshack.us
9. Click "Browse", and find the file you just saved. Click "Upload"
10. When the page loads, scroll to near the bottom and highlight the URL displayed next to the text "Direct link".
11. Click "Edit" and "Copy".
12. Reply to this post, and in the box where you type your reply, hold in the "Ctrl" button on your keyboard and press the letter "v".
13. Submit the post.
I can then have a look at the processes which are running on your computer and tell you further action.0 -

thank you for your help with this hope i have done it right0 -
It doesn't really shows us anything because you have taken the screenshot after you have scrolled down to the least resource hungry programs. We can't see the ones with the widest red bands next to them. Redo it.
Press the Flying Windows key + Pause Break key and let us know what is shown under System & Computer.
We don't need to know what is under Registered.0 -
Yes Donnie is correct, you HAVE done it right, except from when the program opened you scrolled down to the bottom of the list - the processes we need to view will be at the top of it
If you could repeat the steps but without scrolling down when the programs open, I can then have a look
Also, if you do Donnie's suggestion above, it will give us an indication of whether my "number 1" point about the computer hardware itself is the reason for the slowness.0 -
thank you both for your help i will try again now and post it on reply0

You obviously have the OLD avg software as both of those have since been combined into 1 (The ones you have no longer update)
Download the latest AVG ~

Gill, seriously
Thats the old software so you cant possibly have the latest updates for it.
Download using that link I provided. It will uninstall the ones you have. Update then do a FULL SCAN of your system:idea:0
