Went for the first time today. Amongst other things, I got 1lb tub of strawberries for £1.19. Sains selling them for £1.69, and that is what they claim to be half price!

I'm sure Sains, Tesco and Somerfield are price fixing. How come they ALL do chicken kievs for £1.79 or 2 for £3?

    Is that good or bad?

My local Netto has 20% off all fruit and veg at the moment which is well worth doing given that it was already cheaper than Tesco's by some margin!

The only annoying thing is it sells out quickly so you have to get there just after they've restocked the shelves to be sure of getting what you want! (9 am on Saturday was a good time...)

Generally I now buy most things in Netto as it's cheapest for almost everything (fruit and veg, meat, bread, dog food, store cupboard ingredients) - the odd thing is I now shop in Aldi for a treat.

I think Aldi stuff is better quality but Netto is cheaper.

The only thing I really miss in all of the 'cheap' supermarkets is fresh fish. Mind you, I live by the seaside so I'm sure there must be somewhere I could buy that nice and cheaply!

I find that my local ALDI don't stock everything that I want. I'm not mad on their bread or frozen food (too many additives), but everything else seems fine. As Sainsbury's is just across the road, I top up the 'extras' from there.

I can't believe the price difference though. The big supermarkets are really fleecing the customer.

Too right they are. I'm sick of Tesco lately and am not fussy on Asda.

I have been loathe to try much of Lidl's meat don't really know why but yesterday I bought one of their Roasted Chickens ( not awfully cheap as it was a small one £3.09) made in Ireland lol

It was far more tasty than Tesco or Asda and had loads of meat on it.

Edited to say sorry not from Ireland - UK. The beef was from Ireland.

All chilli fans have to try the chilli salt mills at Lidl at the moment. They are only 89p and since we bought it not a dinner has gone by without it being pressed into service. It's lovely stuff!!!
