Bought Lidl 'Suddenly Uno' last week, £3.99 I think, it's really nice doesn't smell cheap my daughter says it smells like CK One, never used that so not sure. I was just wondering if anyone has tried the others and what are they like. I bought brilliant copy of DG Light Blue in Bulgaria but it's not available in UK.Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

My mum bought them last year for a neighbour but I thought they didn't look that great on the box so we decided to try them first. I was so impressed that I kept the box front so I could buy some this year.
Anyone know when these will be in store. CAn't find them in my local Lidl. Thanks.0 -

The Cranberry juice at 59p is very nice0 -
I don't think this has been mentioned before, but Lidl do some frozen steaks which are absolutely astonishingly good. Their fresh steak is not wonderful, but I decided to try the packaged frozen ones instead on the basis the cover picture looked interesting.
Initial impressions were not good - you get two rather small plastic packed steaks which look like they're going to be awful. But I was hungry so persevered. Best way of cooking steaks in my opinion is in a blisteringly hot (literally smoking) cast iron pan with a little butter. Really really hot. Incidentally, meat doesn't stick to a cast iron pan after about the point at which it is cooked.
And then the miracle happens with Lidl steaks. You pop these tiny things onto the pan and with a happy sizzle they puff up to about an inch thick. They are so thick and juicy that you need about 7 minutes a side, at which point the outside will be nicely blackened and just on the point of charring, and the inside will be a lovely pink medium rare. On the plate they are tender and lean, and just exude juice (have plenty of crusty or garlic bread on hand to sop this up).
These are by some distance the best steaks I've found in a supermarket, and I've rarely had anything to beat them from good butchers. For the price they are simply amazing.
Other standard Lidl bargains include the Black Forest Ham, Salami, Muesli, Strong Flour (rises like a rocket) and many many more. But do try the steak.0 -

It is brilliant to see so much enthusiasm for Lidl’s. Here in Bedminster, an area of Bristol that is famous (allegedly) for a Vicky Pollard on every street corner, Lidl’s is still looked upon with suspicion by the middle classes, which is great as the freezers were packed with Fortnum and Mason Style decadence for ages. The Atlantic salmon was terrific and if you mince the venison it goes a long way and made delicious burgers and all sorts.
The only bummer I’ve had at Lidl’s was their Margaux wine at £9.99 which I bought for Christmas and a week later it went half price and was so annoyed I gave into temptation and drank it and it wasn’t worth a fiver. But hey.
I agree Farmstores is ace, but with it’s eye burning florescent lighting and families doing their weekly shop of frozen pizza, biscuits and chips for £20 you have to be brave but once inside there are real bargains. My favourites are continental frozen bread rolls 99p, 2 bags of frozen strawberries 99p (great for smoothies), lots of cheap Quorn and vege sausages and vege bacon and lots of cheap Baxter’s soups. Honestly, I am no snob but the Farmstores here should have a fly on the wall camera as it is so weird and wonderful and one flew over the cuckoo’s nest. Better than X factor.0 -
No more Geese here in Gloucester either
I did get a lobster though and they had plenty of whole salmon left too. I have spent just over £50 in Aldi and Lidl today and come home with so much stuff for christmas that the huge box I am storing things in is overflowing. Lidl had almost everything reduced too, not by much but even saving 20p on an item is better than nothing
