Thought the goose breasts in Lidl were great rather than a whole goose for 2 of us. And I can't imagine two of us eating it in one go - and I luuuuuurve me food! It's 900g (£6), and I've read somewhere that goose is very rich so I shouldn't be able to eat as much haha- and don't forget the trimmings rightly so! Got goose breast and lobster last night for xmas and new years eve, OHs well impressed as he's wanted to try both for ages, brownie points for me!! He thinks I'm mad though, nearly every night I'm like "Guess what I saw on the moneysavingexpert site today???" hehehehehe
Other posh food in Lidl for XMas:
Goose legs (2) - 850g £5
Lobster £5 (heard Tesco will be doing them too but can't be bothered trying to find them)
Venison 500g £3?
Whole ducks, sorry can't remember price or weight.
Whole crab £3
Pack of 8 smaller crabs price/weight???
Whole goose price/weight???
Lidl:
Whole goose 5.5kg, £12.50??
Lobster £5
Happy shopping and eating :rotfl:
Thanks everyone for this thread, been put off Lidl before but very glad to give it a 2nd chance. Though it was very annoying that the aisles are only wide enough for one trolley :mad:0 -
Hello!!!!! This being my first post, can I say thanks for this thread (and this site, of course) - I hadn't been to Lidl for a couple of years, not since living in Croydon where the shop and staff were the pits. Bournemouth, however, seems much different and Lidl and Aldi are now my friends!
Lidl - Good Stuff
Bixies (Weetabix), just as good as the real thing (DON'T buy their really cheapo ones that look like dodgy bricks
Tinned rice pudding - costs about 19p, and is really creamy
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Most other stuff, except beans/soup (agree with everyone else on this!)
Aldi - Good
Someone has already mentioned Red Thai Curry Sauce, you have to try it to believe it!
All the continental chocolate
Aldi - Bad
Creamy White Wine Sauce - creamy it isn't (horrible)
Tandem chocolate biscuits - supposed to be KITKAT but AVOID!:A AJ's Magic Daps :A0 -
Salmon side really good value at LIdll. £3.99 for whole side coated with herbs. Had some tonight really yummy. It's the wild keema salmon too not the farmed stuff - good enough for a dinner party. I'm amazed.0

I'm sure they would. I returned a tent which had a broken cord in the pole, after i had used it for a camping trip. I expected to be given a replacement, but the girl on the till just handed me the cash without even asking if I wanted my money back or a replacement. I think they must have a 'no quibble' policy or something.keep smiling,

+++++Tandem Biscuits+++++
I must disagree here. Sure they do not taste like Kitkat, but they do taste yummy in their own right! All Aldi chocolate biscuits are made with superior tasting chocolate, I think it is something to do with their cocoa content being better than British brands in general.keep smiling,

Just had a delicious Chicken Tikka Masala from Lidl...As far as a ready meal goes I'd rate it as one of the best I've had..Checked the back and its not loaded with salt either..I think its a new thing as it hasn't got the Lidl label on it..Its made by a company called Noon foods who on having a look at their web site supply curries to Waitrose! ..just goes to show what a nonsense this supermarket "Quality vs price" thing is....The Early bird may catch the worm ...but its the second mouse that gets all the cheese!0
