How do check if the radiators are switched on?
Yes they are cold everywhere. I will look for another switch.
Where is the pump?
I will check if the bottom of the radiators - thanks.
How do i put water back into the radiators?
Thanks0 -
If the rads need bleeding, them they are full of air. Turn the key gradually and you will hear the air hissing out. As soon as a bit of water starts to come out stop and they will fill back up with water. But don't do it while they are on- unless you want to risk a burn.
Are you able to get the EA to contact the previous owner to find out if there is another switch for the rads? and to get them to briefly tell you how to work the whole heating system? Or if they have got the old book lying around?0 -
Crikey, where have you moved to. Antarctica?

Ditto...my heating doesn't go on until October.
Do you have a timer control box near the boiler?
This gives you the options of.........water twice, constant etc and heating twice, constant etc. Check that you have turned the heating on constant and its not set in timer mode.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

You certainly need to check that it is working before the winter arrives.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

From my 'new build' days when the CH was turned on after being off for the summer it often was the pump. Our maintenence plumber gave it a thump with a rubber hammer as it can get silted up - often worked.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. Still not working

contacted ea and solicitors neither have got back to me so i will call them both again tomorrow.0 -
Pump is often in airing cupboard, it may even be just switched off. If it does need replacing, it is usually a relatively easy and inexpensive job (in plumbing terms). As these can fail at any time, there is no certainty that vendor would have been aware that it had failed. IMHO it's not worthwhile trying to pursue vendor as you had the opportunity to have CH checked before completion and they would no doubt say CH was working when switched off for summer. When I sold my late father's bungalow as it was winter I left CH on low until completion (bungalow was unoccupied), it was mid winter. However visited one evening and no CH, pump just failed. Did replace it though, since had said in Q and A form that CH working. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Please can anyone tell me if there is any kind of gurantee/waranty for the seller to have responsibility of the central heating not working?
Should this have been left in working order?
If so should i contact my solicitor?
Many thanks
Have you read my lockout procedure thread on the lunatics board?0
