A real work at home job part 2

With the current economic situation and with many companies looking to protect their profit margins there will always be a tendency to drop staff from areas that are either already seeing a downturn in traffic volume or are predicted to see a downturn.
It's the same with the tech side, if call volumes start dropping massively VTO is offered so that the number of bums on seats can be reduced immediately without cost to client or TT.
If the ADSL take up dropped off and calls to tier 1 support also took a massive downturn the client may well look to rationalise their staffing levels there too and anyone that has worked in the call center arena knows how quickly you can be asked to leave your desk.
It may be that some agents can be filtered back into the tech support role, they are consistantly training and bringing online more agents for that position but without a time machine no one is going to be certain of anything in the future.0 -
Quote: It is not obvious or I would not have commented on it. To me you come across as "I'm all right Jack - to heck with the rest"
Once again further exaggeration on the point i have explain and justified, Unnecessary!
Quote: This is the 1st paragraph shown to employees:
""TeleTech regrets to inform you that due to a forecasted reduction in call demand, our client has made a business decision to end the @Home Sales project. Regrettably, it is therefore necessary to close this business project in its entirety, effective May 31, 2009.""
You've completely contradicted yourself and proved correct my previous post, it quite clearly states "@Home Sales project" which is one division/Project/Department in itself as I explained.
It's all there quite clear to see in your own post, maybe the “brain in gear” statement applies to yourself!?
So saying a statement like
Quote: “Hi,
Unfortunately today all employees have been informed that their main client in the UK will be pulling out at the end of May. “
Is a vague statement that doesn't cover the entirety of the original source, once again “brain in gear statement” may apply here too!?
Also i'd advise you not to state clients names & quote official internal memo's especially as this memo quite clearly emphasis “internal use only not for distribution externally” . Every time you log in your daughter agrees to a certain terms of use. IP addresses may be requested from MSE and as your daughter is probably working from the same IP address it wouldn't be hard for TT to put two and two together and this can be grounds for instant dismissal.
The last statement is a genuine heads up our trainer made it quite clear to use that as soon as you log in everything from then on is completely confidential, the fact that you have seen it, is a breach in itself, unless you work for teletech off course.
I don't want to cause an argument I think that there has been an obvious misunderstanding, and I understand it must be hard for you daughter and I wish all the best for her, Please keep us updated as to her status and progress with teletech.

Unfortunately the above paragraph is FACT - if your daughter (or any relative) received it how would you feel?
Nestgc, no one is saying it is not fact. However, your original post implied that ALL employees were being made redundant when this is not the case.
ALL employees received the memo, whether they were affected or not. Unfortunately, it is the sales dept. who are affected thus not everyone.
My heart goes out to those who have been told their jobs will be gone at the end of May - I know exactly how it feels to be made redundant, and it's bloody awful especially with the economy as it is at the moment.
I hope Teletech manage to perhaps retrain your daughter in the tech side of things. If that's not possible then I wish your daughter all the luck in the world in securing employment elsewhere.
As PaulK has said in another post, anyone with call centre experience knows just how quickly you can be asked to leave your position, so whilst tech have been assured our jobs are safe, it's always in the back of your mind that you could be next.0 -
I guess this must be why the recruiters are currently saying that they don't know when training is going to start then...0

Hi lulaloo,
All sales staff had a meeting with one of the bosses of Teletech. He told them that, if they apply for other jobs within the company, they will be given preference over any others applying.0 -
Yep nestgc is correct. everybody was told this last week but they have slowed down recruiting for now anyway (slow down meaning recruiting every 4-5 week as apposed to every week) , my group was the last group and we have just gone into nesting and then into production next week, but there is rumors flying around that more hours will be made available to customer service agents, as at the minute all agents work between 4-11. If this is confirmed this will open up loads of hours from 9am meaning they will be on a massive recruitment drive again... Hopefully some of the people who lost there sales job can move across, and those waiting can get started
Lets hope!
