It's understandable. You don't know me from Adam. I will let the lad confirm it when he returns.
The lad you know could well be different to the one I know as I don't really know him, but he helped me get a dodgy gym membership refunded so I wouldn't do anything to upset him. I would also add that happy to you may be different to happy for me.

    Welcome Nicola.

Does anyone know how Incapacity Benefits work and what you do when they stop the benefit on the advice of just one unsympathetic doctor?
When I worked for the DSS many years ago it would have been very unlikely that you were the victinm of one unsympathetic doctor. Things might have changed but there was usually contact between your doctor and the DSS one. At that time your doctor could actually block a visit to the medical officer or sometimes he could by way of codes in the sicknote get us to refer the client to the medical officer. This was done when the clients own doctor wasnt sure. Most commonly used with depression and bad backs as these are the easiest to fake, other times the doctor may have just wanted another opinion perhaps when patient wasnt responding to treatment. However we had very few appeals and even fewer sucessful ones.
Everyone is different so should be treated that way and most of the time I have to say the medical officers were pretty good though that was a few years ago and things may have changed. It may seem strange that your OH has to accompany you everywhere as it may look like you suffer more with say social anxiety than clinical depression. The other point is that work is often theraputic to depression though not of course if your job is the cause.
Another thing that sometimes comes up is that the officer may not think that you are ready for your own occupation but may think there are other occupations that you could do and in these cases he would be right to stop incapacity benefit as JSA is more appropriate.
Please not things could have changed as it is a long time since I worked there and the state has certainly got a lot softer over the years.
Who I am is not important. What I do is.

    I am OK too:)

Preparing for Christmas. It is difficult with all the dark, gloomy days wanting to go out and do things.

Our son is having his op next week.

He may have had a bad week at school but that doesnt excuse taking it out on someone else.
