(((hugs))) miro, i was always under the impression, that treatment from the pdsa was free to those in need, regardless of how many you have
I contacted them and they say it's changed from 3 to 1, they just haven't changed the website.
I told them I wouldn't be using the surgery as I couldn't guarantee the cat on PDSA would be treated the same way as the other 4 that I paid for, based on the experience I had just had at the vets.
They had no interest in my cats eye at all. She's fine, happy as usual, but they don't know how she is. They never listened past 'she has a funny eye'. They just were more interested in how much money they could extract from me for 5 cats, whereas I feel a bit of concern is vital, if a cat could be unwell0 -
I will do shortly AB. It's been a bad day
I'm so tired and just about to eat my first thing.
Then I shall ask on the pet board.
I'm still fuming re: vets0 -

Hi miro!:hello:
How are you angel? I'm sorry that you've got a cold still hun......maybe it's worth stopping by the vets yourself and getting checked up?
'Tis the season for all things sneezy I know, but if you've had a cold for quite a while, you should check in with the dr, hunnie.Don't worry miro - I know you don't like drs but they won't *neuter* you, I promise.
I'm sorry to hear pusscat has got a poorly eye. I am also surprised that you can't get more assistance from the PDSA. There's a lot of wonderful work going on but there seems to be an even greater number of cats who need it. How about going along and just registering the one for now and then one at a time, as and when the need occurs? At least that means that the one with the poorly eye can get it checked out.
My immediate thought is to approach the charity that you adopted them from and ask them for help with the vets fees. As with any kind of financial assistance in life, it'll be like pulling teeth, but I'm sure they will appreciate an owner who has lovingly cared for 5 cats and that it will be even more of a drain on financial funds if they have to take a cat back.I went down into the Tiff archives, *dusty cough*, and I found some links for you angel, of varying kinds. Some are giving actual care advice or first aid advice for poorly cats and there's even one that has a volunteer vet who answers emails. Even in my role as thread cat,, I'm not a professional hunnie, so as always use your own judgement.
The more well known charities including Cat Action Trust and the Cats Protection League are worth a call, as well as the Blue Cross and the RSPCA.
http://www.bluecross.org.uk/web/site/AboutUs/Veterinary/Veterinary_Care_Fund.aspWith this RSPCA link, I've also posted a quote here from the laws covering cat welfare from their site, but you should read through it to see if that's any use hunnie. If it's a case of helping financially against rehoming a cat, you might find them sympathetic because they don't want a cat to suffer, although you'll have to fight your corner as it were.''Remember: It is a criminal offence to knowingly deny an animal veterinary treatment and subsequently cause that animal to suffer unnecessarily.''As with people, as long as pusscat is eating and drinking and all is well gastrically, then hopefully it's nothing serious. When my feline friends have had poorly eyes, I've bathed their eye using a cold used teabag soaked onto a piece of kitchen towel roll. Don't ask me where I got that nugget of information from, 'cos I can't remember. One piece of advice though, please don't saturate your light-coloured cat with the cold tea or you will end up with a ginger cat!
Hoping you and pusscat get better soon, hunnie.

A priest and a rabbi were sitting next to each other on an airplane.
After a while, the priest turned to the rabbi and asked, "Is it still a requirement of your faith that you not eat pork?"
The rabbi responded, "Yes, that is still one of our beliefs."
The priest then asked, "Have you ever eaten pork?"
To which the rabbi replied, "Yes, on one occasion I did succumb to temptation and tasted a ham sandwich."
The priest nodded in understanding and went on with his reading.
A while later, the rabbi spoke up and asked the priest, "Father, is it still a requirement of your church that you remain celibate?"
The priest replied, "Yes, that is still very much a part of our faith."
The rabbi then asked him, "Father, have you ever fallen to the temptations of the flesh?"
The priest replied, "Yes, rabbi, on one occasion I was weak and broke with my faith."
The rabbi nodded understandingly and remained silent, thinking, for about five minutes.
Finally, the rabbi said, "Beats the crap out of a ham sandwich, doesn't it?"Who I am is not important. What I do is.0 -

Gosh, so much has happened since I last posted. FG & D I hope you don't leave the thread. Does it really matter what some people think, when there are many of us who do understand? Just try to remember you're not alone here.
Good luck for tonight Shaz, hope you have a great evening...
