o2 - Bloody Ridiculious

I have been an O2 customer for about 4 years. Today I rang them up about numerous problems with my LG Viewty. I went through the whole upgrading thing, the retentions department and returns.

I have 3 months left on my contract and they WILL NOT upgrade my contract even though my phone has buggy firmware. Instead, they will give me a brand new phone for 3 months. (How this makes any sense is beyond me)
So I spoke for about and hour and was finally put through to returns, only to find that last year - when I was told to go into a store to get my new phone. By going to get a phone from instore I had been transferred to an offline customer and they could not do anything about it. Why was I never informed about this? This now means that I have to go into a store to do everything! How bloody ridiculious is that.
Why can they simply not upgrade my contract 3 months early, and be done with it?
I have been told different things by different departments in this hour, was given the wrong phone number and had the phone put down on me.
Its a joke!

On top of that, I am trying to contact them via email to register a complaint and the text length of the comments field is not long enough!!! Has anyone got a direct email to O2?

Errrm, there used to be a difference between a O2 retail/shops and O2 Online, but they have been consolidating into one company. I still am an online customer and I managed to go into a shop and get the same service as an O2 shop customer.

Why can you not just take the brand new phone? Come upgrade time you can then sell the old, nearly-new phone on a suitable alternative to eBay. Or are they expecting you to take some new 18 month term off it?

In case anyone needs to refer back to Greg's previous thread on this subject, it's here.

I don't see the problem myself as you're being offerred a brand new phone and as Cavey said, you can sell this when you're due to upgrade.

Cavey I think there is still differences with returns, I'm sure I saw something about it on O2's website a couple of days ago.

I have no problem with taking a new phone. I would like the iPhone but can't have that without a new contract. In their eyes, they are making more money out of me since they dont have to pay for me to have a new phone.

However, I have to go into a store and demo my phone because some idiot transferred me to an offline customer. I cant actually get to my nearest O2 shop until next month though. They are just being so pathetic, I was even told I could get a doorstep swap but now they're not having any of it

Cavey, by going into an O2 shop to get your phone, you have now made yourself an offline customer and O2 online customer services can no longer deal with your returns and problems etc.

Just rang up to see if I can get a return online rather than in a store and I have just been told that I CANNOT get a replacement phone, my phone has to be sent of for repair and if it cannot be sorted its up to LG to replace the handset! Why can they not get anything straight? Especially as an O2 customer, I have spent about 1.5hours on a 0870 number with them today! They are a joke!

    Lol, um where to start
    • Plugging phone into computer resets the phone
    • Hit below the space bar button in qwerty mode to cancel your message and return to the home screen
    • After scrolling through menus, sometimes the list 'jumps' about and you cant press what you want
    • Huge load times for photos, music and videos
    • Deleting messages, all at once takes forever
    • Browser is slow, especially when Opera loads the same page about 10x faster
    • Battery drains when plugged into PC
    Theres a few :p

I thought if you phoned 02 on the 0870 number it was free from your 02 mobile...?

I'm an online customer of 8 years - or when ever it was called Genie...

My SE K850i broke a few months ago and I phoned up and got told that all 02 phones are can be replaced FOC if they break for the length of your contract.

I sent it away in a bubble wrapped parcel and they sent me a new one out.
I was also told that I could do this in an 02 shop, but it wasn't feasable for me to do that.

  • I consider offering you a brand new phone 15 months in to an 18 month contract excellent service, try getting a new phone from Vodafone after 5 WEEKS and you will know all about poor service.

Just got out from a Vodafone contract after 6 months due to them changing call charges, now with o2 (sim only). 600 mins, unlimited landlines, lots of texts £20 per month
    :D:D:D

Just be glad you are where you are.
    baldly going on...
