    Hello and happy birthday!

I think the National Debtline website has some good template letters - might be worth having a look there (sorry, don't know the link).

  • Bumping this back up .........

Basically I have three options right now.

    1. Let everything bounce this month and then after my meeting with a debt counsellor on 1st September take their advice re contacting creditors
    2. Cancel the direct debits and send them a letter and £1 token payment now
    3. My Dad has offered me the money this month only to ensure nothing bounces before my meeting with Debt Counsellor and I then take their advice

Really dont know what to do as if I dont get a job in next few weeks I will be in same position next month and the money my Dad gives me will not really have made much difference and he will be ££££'s out of pocket.

If I dont get a job then it looks like bankruptcy

Even if I do get a job I am unlikely to be in a position to pay all my debts and will need to go on a DMP or similar anyway so credit record will be f**ked anyway

I am trying to get work and had an interview today, another one on Monday and have been applying for more jobs this morning .......

    Any advice please people

  • I would borrow the money from your Dad, not ideal but gives you breathing space.

In the meantime do write to your creditors - either use one of the letters or wait for the debt advisor to well advise!

Its tough, but don't give up. you have been so resourceful so far. hang in a bit longer

  • Well been really down tonight, hope it is just exhaustion after the week I have had as I have really only come to terms with how deep I am in after months of fighting, sticking head in sand and not fully accepting what is happening to me.

Plus side is overnight access weekend this weekend so plans are afoot for a snail hunt / play at the park / wave to cars on the bypass and see who waves back type adventure

  • Its a horrible shell shock type feeling when you realise how much S*** you could be in. You will be worn out but no one can do anything over a bank holiday which means for now you will have some peace and it sounds like some fun with your kid.

it may not look like it but you will come out the other side of this

    (((hug)))

Oh blackclouds, chin up. I've been in a similar mood earlier tonight and now I'm just gritting my teeth and ploughing on. Doing everything I can just to survive and stay afloat. If I were you I'd take the £ from your Dad. Fingers crossed you'll have a job the next time direct debits arise and you'll be able to conitnue on. If you can stop them bouncing to buy yourself more time, then do it. I know it's not ideal but worth doing.

  • I think that the realisation that even if I get a decent paying job immediately the chances of covering my outgoings per my SOA are very slight. If I get a job on Minimum Wage it will barely make a dent. That said I am still positive about job search and excited about Mondays interview as it is for a job I would really like rather than just one I really need.

Damn this rollercoaster of emotion - even started crying watching the news earlier, hypersensitivity is kicking in good style - worst thing is I know my Dad is not sleeping either and my Mum is finding it tough arghhhhhhhhhhh !
