I have been advised by the Duty Manager at Tescos in Clowne, Derbys that they accept MOC’s without buying the product. This is a U-turn from their decision in summer when they stopped accepting coupons unless the product is purchased.
Can anyone confirm they now accept coupons without buying the actual products?0 -
Very confusing rules applying now at Tesco...
Getting more confused by the minute....
...
No, you seem to have it about right - it differs from store to store and will even differ from SA to SA within a store - I think T's coupon policy is called "Pot luck" personally!
I just give it a go, if they take them they do and if they don't I save them for another day.0 -
Theres a new Nelsons Teetha coupon on the no chat thread, do you think this could be used in Tesco and if so what is it actually worth?
No. Tesco blocked this one about 3 years ago when it was abused due to it having no expiry date.
Don't try it anywhere, it's not a current coupon, it's about 5 years old!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for any help with this
This is what got from Tescos when I emailed them.
Thank you for your email.
Unfortunatley we only accept the Sainsbury's vouchers, no other supermarkets. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Can anyone tell me what happens if I pay for an item with coupons and I need to return it. I have recently bought my daughter a jumper, paid entirely with coupons, except 12p, and she doesn't like it. Where do I stand?“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”:D0

I have returned items where I have paid almost entirely in coupons, but that's because the store is fine with coupons as cash. You should be fine if your store is like mine!!!
Just beware that many CS desk staff have no clue as to the coupon policy - it's not something they come across much so they may ask some stern questions at first. I just confidently explain their own coupon policy & if they still huff and puff I ask them to check - if they want to - with a Till Manager (who do generally know the score). Sometimes they ask 'what sort of coupons do you use then?' (in a fascinated but disbelieving tone) so I get out my envelope of today's ones & show them as an example - but don't let them wander off with them as they are like cash to you & me.
As it's clothing you will need to take the item back to the clothing desk but most of the young staff on that desk in my local Extra know the moc policy. The older ones don't though, and one dark-haired Manager-type lady is aware of it but hates it (so I just avoid her!).
In my store I have had cash or gift card refunds for fully-couponed receipts, and exchanges too (I hardly return anything but I have been couponing a long time so have returned stuff under your circumstances more than once now). That's not to say anyone should try deliberately buying stuff with coupons in the hope of getting a cash refund though - staff would soon cotton on to a serial returner.

The email is patently wrong, it's up to you if you want to follow it up really.
Tesco coupon policy states they accept conditional spend vouchers from 'all other major Supermarkets'. That's a fact, that's the exact wording. As long as the voucher does not state a product or a line and is in date (e.g. not a Sainsburys coupon for 50p off baked beans and not a Sainsburys coupon for £5 off wys £20 on electricals/clothing/kitchenware etc).
They also specially produced a banner for all stores when Morrisons had those spend & save mocs in the Sun newspaper in the Summer. One local store still displays it outside ('we accept Morrisons Spend & Save vouchers') even though there is no Morrisons anywhere within miles AND there are no Morrisons Spend & Save vouchers around now! :rotfl:
But anyhoo, it's 'any major Supermarket' not just Sainsburys. I am still unsure about Farmfoods fitting that description though and the fact that their mocs have no barcode would mean most Tesco stores would decline them. I have never used one, Tesco tills really need a 99 barcode like on the Waitrose spend & saves and others.

I want one of those camera and printer packages T's are doing. I've got a daily mail moc and was thinking if I asked them to show me how to use it I could take a pic of my moc and print out copies to pay for the said item. Do you think I would have to take me own paper in or would they let me have a ream? I don't mind printing off another moc to pay for it.AKA; Mad, MM, MM5, Madicles  ©
