I went into my local tescos and saved £6.20 yesterday with my coupons. During the transaction the young sa a guy, started to go through my shopping, checking that I had purchased the coupons I had submitted! None of these were internet coupons, and all products they stocked. Has anyone else had this happen to them before.[/quote]

Not in Tesco, not for a couple of years anyway, except with till spits sometimes.

Always in Sainsburys - but it got sooo pathetic with coupon-checking that I pretty much gave up shopping there (once I genuinely made a mistake and picked up the wrong size McVities Jaffa Cakes and in spite of the queue, the Supervisor insisted on going to the other end of the store to swap them for the 'right' ones in the picture on the MOC, before my transaction could continue). Myself and the people behind me had to stand and wait in spite of me saying 'don't worry, I'll leave them then & get them next time...'

I was seriously unimpressed by her lack of common sense - OK so they expect you to buy the product and I was (and the pack I had picked up was MORE expensive than the one that was mentioned on the MOC!). It was before Tesco clarified their one-of-each policy BTW so I used to shop more widely then!

I mused that, as a Supervisor had she no grasp of the more important details such as good customer service (the waiting queue and my own embarrassment) and wasted man-hours (her own and her SA wasting time that could be spent serving & taking more money through the till, multiplied by several times per day of such pedantic delays)? Obviously not!

TBH I think the bigger picture of good customer service is why Waitrose allow some coupons without buying the product. It doesn't quite fit with their image except that they are avoiding the infamous Sainsburys 'have you bought it???' bark from the SA who then roots through your purchases! Never get that in Waitys, they are so nice and most SAs know the coupon policy.

IMHO Tesco's agenda for having their coupon policy is different than Waitrose. Making money and beating the competition being at the forefront of any Mr T decision-making, I would think. But you still get many SAs who haven't a clue about the policy of course.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Does anyone know if the Daily Mail book coupon would be okay to use at Tesco?

    Thank you :)

No it cannot be used in Tesco. The coupon has a website on it for you to help find a stockist.

with regards to your question PLEASE do not use this MOC for Tesco as I know (with certainty)that this MOC cannot be used in Tesco. Tesco has their supply of books from another company and therefore cannot reclaim the money for the moc. Use of this MOC will gaurantee that your store starts rejecting your internet MOC's or blocking them from the tills.

so please, I cannot stress this enough (in the nicest possible way) dont even be tempted (for your own benefit).icon7.gif

I asked in my Tesco and they said they do accept those magazine coupons that are in the Daily Mail - they get the money back from the magazine wholesalers and magazine wholesalers cover an area, so are geographic rather than store or brand specific - so I'm carrying on using them with a clear conscience.

the past few posts have been talking about the book coupon which is in the DM not the moc for other things within the newspaper. as for the last few moc from the DM for example the moc for various mags which stated for use in independent stores and sainsburys/waitrose etc etc, these werent for tescos as they didnt state for use in tescos, even if they scanned, it will soon restrict what yr store takes.
  • i "bought" the Now mag ( used coupons) just for the coupons inside that were mentioned on MSE last week. The only coupons inside were for Star or Sun newspapers 15p of each tried to use them with other coupons in my normal shop but SA wouldnt take them. She said had to buy the paper i asked any paper and she said no its got to be the ones on the coupon. Cant understand why would this be different whrn they take coupons for all other tings u dont actually buy. Theve got the 99 number on them and valid til mid november. Should i try them again or bin them ( dont want to spend money on papers im not going to read havent got time too busy couponing !)
    Thanks for any info

I have used them in T's no problem, I would keep trying if you get knocked back just say ok and take them back, not worth making any fuss over such a low value MOC but worth keep handing them over you might hit lucky.

  • Have tried in vain to make a multisheet for the Cow&Gate dessert 50p coupon (expiry 2009) on page 1 of the no chat thread. If there is some kind soul out there who would be willing to share their multisheet I would be most grateful. I do not have the software to crop the coupon so would really appreciate some help. Many thanks to all you kind souls out there.
