    Part of the Furniture
Just used £16.90 worth of coupons at Tesco off a £63 shop...70p manufacturers coupons the rest internet...absolutely no problems at all in taking them, the SA spent ages trying to enter a £1 Food Doctor coupon , printed properly in colour off the net...he swiped it 3 times , used hand held scanner 3 times , then typed it in 3 times and it still wouldn't accept it , so he did £1 non-scan , gave me a lovely smile and said he was determined not to be beaten...then proceeded with rest adding, "Blimey you've done well today" ....went out to the car and realised I hadn't bought an ironing board cover, so went back in , it was £2.99, paid for it at the till( not self scan) with £3 worth of luncheon vouchers that I had forgotten I'd got in my wallet(got them courtesy of Pinecone research, they give £4 worth for each survey ) and I even got 1p change.....I love my local Tesco...just had a fab 5* holiday in Malta with my points too.

    Xmas Saver!
After the fuss this morning I rang customer service, I was extremely polite, but I had the most moodiest woman, who was rude, and complained about us customers keep ringng up......... I was close to telling her that our shopping bills pay her wages, but I couldnt get a word in edgeways.

    The just of the conversation:

THE DISCRETION OF ALL COUPONS IS NOW AT STORE MANAGERS LEVEL, NOT JUST INTERNET COUPONS
STORES CAN RESTRICT VOUCHERS TO 10% OF BILL OR 1 VOUCHER ONLY
INTERNET COUPON ACCEPTANCE IS BEING PHASED OUT, UNLESS THEY ARE ISSUED BY TESCO ONLY, THEY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING CUSTOMERS PRINTOUTS.

THIS IS ALL DUE TO PEOPLE ABUSING THE POLICY, AT SOME STORES, HENCE THE DECISION BEING MADE AT STORE LEVEL AS THEY MAY KNOW/OR CAN CONTROL THE VOUCHERS AND THE POSSIBLE ABUSERS

TOO MANY PHOTOCOPIES ARE BEING USED, THEREFORE WHEN TESCO SUPPLEMENT THESE FOR A REFUND NO MONEY COMING BACK.

I can only presume that it will become nationwide, and I hope prewarned is pre-armed, I not saying that any of us on here abuse the situation, as at the end of the day we all want to use the system, its just one or two horrible people that may well ruin it for the rest of us.
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

    Hi

This is a post I placed on the NI Board. Can anyone give me some advise on what I should do next as it does appear nobody else on the NI board is a couponer:

Hi Natasha, it really does vary store to store, my local store are great and take all coupons with no problems at all.

Have you thought about giving Customer Service in Dundee a call about your store?

Customer services seem to be backing the stores now. They have had enough.

I do not like the fact d.edna that you are implying I use my coupons improperly.

As I stated before I only ever use coupons that Tesco can get their money back on, ie they are in date, non store specific, legitimate coupons (no copies) and for items that Tesco's stock.

Please do not imply that I am "taking the michael". When I said about the coupons scanning I mean that sometimes the barcode is not clear enough for the scanner and so sometimes the cashier is kind enough to manually input the code. If the cashier does not wish to do this then I take the coupon back home and hope for more success the following week.

I am grateful for any amount of coupons that the cashier will take from my bill and certainly would not jeopardise this by handing over coupons that would in the end cost Tesco and me money. I only ever use my coupons on grocery items. I don't even purchase my petrol at Tesco's as it is cheaper at Asda.
I'm not saying you personally, your post just seemed to fit with what I had to say (you raised points I wanted to) sorry for any confusion

I also go to young male staff. But its not because i am doing anything wrong, all my coupons are legit.

No, its because the older staff seem to get a kick out of abusing coupon users and treating them like second rate scroungers.

Tesco need to re-train them, for upsetting their customers on a daily basis - not the young ones for being polite to customers, but making the odd error.
Agreed but they are on a different type of contract (where they are seen as god don't ask) and they are so set in their ways, its hard to break their habbits

Had £18 of coupons off a £38 shop today. £6.50 of manufacture coupons and the rest printed from here as I havent done any for ages.

I always go to the same man if I can as Ive found it depends who you go to on the tills. Then as I was putting the shopping in a bag I found the previous shoppers receipt with 39 points on it that they hadnt had and in the post this morning I had £36 from Envirophone and a £5 M&S voucher from Directline for a quote so all in all a very good day.

If T stops taking vouchers we can all go back to internet shopping and use extra point codes instead :rotfl:

Hello I have had no trouble so far with coupons - genuine - I would not know how to start to copy/scan and do not intend to try/learn but I am getting more and more worried about using (genuine) coupons because in my local T it depends on who you go to as some SA are pleasant and accept the coupons and others scowl and look at you as if you are doing something VERY wrong. I always smile and chat as it is my nature to do so not in order to try any sort of deception as some staff seem to think.
I've asked around checkout staff, its nothing personal, they sometimes get coupons to the extreme, where someone spends £40 and try and use £38 of coupons where £34 are rejected. Personally when I work in store, I have no problems with coupon acceptance as long as you play fair (Not you personally)
It is even more confusing now to know what is and is not allowed - is it 10% of shop, mine is usually about £90 or is it 5 coupons and what about the policy
10% OR 5 coupons which ever occurs first (reduced to 1 coupon in some branches) depending on branch
I read about using coupons against food and non food being allowed or not allowed even the supervisors at T disagree on that one !! I am getting so fed up with this attitude and if staff are not more pleasant
I've asked, the supervisor on our front end said as long as they stock the product or if out of stock has an SEL they will take the coupon
as I always am with them I also will vote with my feet and shop at Asda,Sainsbury,Morrisons as they are all nearby.I feel sorry for anyone who only has a T nearby
You will find they will all start the same policy soon, but the rudeness is unacceptable
They should be happy to get our custom and stop treating couponers as something substandard - it is T motto that every little helps yet by using coupons they look down on us
Its not personal as explained earlier, it could be a previous customer has tried using alot of coupons abusing policy.
some of them at least as some SA are very nice too but not many it is a shame to say> I was waitng at CS the other day when they were very insulting about a woman who had just used coupons and was too embarressed to then use mine and got a very small shop and then drove to Asda where the CS and SA are always very nice and if it weren't for T coupon policy I would never shop there and am even beginning to wonder if the coupon saving is worth the hassle and the upset
Re the "I will go to another supermarket" if you say that to a GA it won't swey them if anything you will get their back up as they have heard that 57 times previously even tonight I heard someone say that me because I refused to reduce a sandwich in the garage with 3 days left on the use by and then wouldnt allow the cashier to accept his 5p coupon on 2 cars

You should never be embarrassed to use coupons, seriously, even staff use them (EVen the women who are arsey about their acceptance)

Re carrying copy of the policy, I assume that just gets the TL's backs up?
  • I do wish people would stop ringing Tesco customer services, we know policy varies between stores and you just have to find out what the policy is at your store and stick to it, there is no point antagonising cs with loads of phone calls. I think the amount of coupons being handed over has increased dramatically due to sites like this one and PTS and it is bringing the whole coupon issue above the radar with Tesco. Please remember,

COUPONING IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT

At my work Tesco I can only use one coupon per shop up the 50% of the shop, at my home Tesco I can pay for 50% of my bill in coupons, one of each. At Asda it's 10%. You just gotta go with it people or Tesco WILL clamp down completely, we have seen it before with R&R and points are definitely much scarcer these days. Tesco are not stupid and they do not have to accept any coupons so lets stop waving a big red coupon flag in their faces.
