  • OOOHHH The spiders here are of epic size this year!!!!

Last night we were getting ready for bed opened the living room door and the spider was so big it couldn't squeeze under the door      (and we have a big gap under it!!) i nearly had a heart attack, my partner (who isn't normally fazed by spiders) looked like he was going to cry after much screaming, jumping on sofas and general hysterics he caught it. And got rid of it. I'm dreading finding any more can't wait for winter again!!!!

  • I would much prefer to see 1 (ok maybe 2 or 3) large hairy spiders than a shed load of flies. I am meticulous about cleaning (ok a bit of a freak, see Monica from "Friends") but flies really make my skin crawl.

Hubby does the glass and paper thing..............I just vacate the room until he's available to do the glass and paper.
If you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T

OMG - I now have something to include on my next house hunt - no houses with Ivy - looks pretty but large spiders - no way  . I don't like spiders (feel ill when they're large :() - as I don't have a DH or DB I have to deal with them myself - my head is actually itching after reading this thread.

I don't love spiders but they don't bother me, when I was younger I was "scared" of them...not really but easier to get my grandma to deal with them than go near myself! Now I have no choice but to tough it out as boyfriend is terrified of them...made me get a tiny little one yesterday (glass and card job) it was only an inch across...he complains about flies too so don't know why he has a problem with spiders! Rather a spider than a fly anyday in my house.

Only someone who isn't afraid of spiders could describe one that is an inch across as tiny :confused:   :naughty::naughty:

    Please stop killing the spiders!

Even if you are afraid of them, that's no reason to kill them. They can't help being spiders anymore than you can help being you.

My mother had a pathalogical fear of spiders which she kindly passed on to me. One day my dad sat me down and got me to think about the logic of being afraid of something so small (in comparison to me). And I can manage my fear now.

Btw, Lakeland sells one of the spider catchers mentioned earlier.
