cheapest DVD player i've seen is the Durabrand 1005 from ASDA for £17.97. Its a portable player so handy for taking on holiday and plugging it in to the hotel TV, can't go wrong for that money.

Got the Acoustic Solutions from Argos, seems pretty good. £19.99. Mine didn't play multi region straight out of the box but went on line, got the easy 5 second handset hack and now it plays everything I've tried - normal stuff plus jpeg, region 1 & 4 dvds recorded in NTSC format and DVD-RW. Quality is good for what you pay, seems better suited to the ordinary 21" 4:3 TV, rather than the more demanding widescreen 28". Highly recommended as a secondary player.

We have one also from argos, acoustic solutions, £24.99p, it switched on & was ready for multi region, as you say great for a second player. :j

    5. Press the Next button on your remote control
    6. Press the Next button on your remote control
    7. The currently selected region should be displayed on the onscreen display
    8. Using the Left button on your remote control, change the region to 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 255 for multi-region playback
    9. Press the Setup button on your remote control
