  • What they won't do though is prevent house prices from falling so the last laugh is on them really.

Indeed, it's like watching King Canute in reverse, trying to stop the tide from going out! :D

Totally agree. This is happening on more and more threads. It seems to only be a select few. They seem to target !!!!!!? and desperately try to derail the conversation by causing arguments and confusion. I suspect they're probably the same person (obviously with a heavy vested interest) and then accuse other users of having multiple usernames to try and confuse things further. The moderators really should try and put a stop to it because it prevents any sensible conversation, which is exactly what these people / person is trying to do. What they won't do though is prevent house prices from falling so the last laugh is on them really.

Shouldn't be too hard to sort out multiple usernames - generally, posting from the same IP (which the mods have access to) is a bit of a giveaway. They have some other tricks too, I believe. If you suspect that it's happening, report it to the mods.

Most online Forums are pretty much on the ball about this and it will result in a ban for life, so I don't think this is going on to any great extent.

What is going on is just an escalation of what happened since this time last year the bears started posting in numbers .... a really hostile and personal reaction to bear news. People with vested interests in high property prices (ie. anyone who paid a fortune for their house in the last few years) will not react well to news that the bubble has burst and tend to take it very personally.

Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.

Sorry to disillusion you, but !!!!!!? started the argument and moved the thread away from an interesting discussion into abuse. Here is the message trail:

Yeah - there are some places that have had 50% falls already (mostly BTL-fodder executive apartments).

So, we're still on topic and !!!!!!? makes a statement about 50% falls on BTL executive apartments.

Would really like to see some examples of this 50% drop...

So, still on topic, Chucky asks to see examples of these 50% drops.
Real 50% drops, mind. Not just sales drops from absolutely ridiculous prices quoted by builders who then drop 50% to make you think you're getting a bargain.

So, still on topic, I add that I'm interested in seeign these 50% drops, though in real cases and not just builders selling properties cheaper than their outrageous initial markup.

I have no intention of justifying every single world I write to a couple of nitpicking net weirdos.

!!!!!!? calls us a couple of weirdo.

So, who took us off topic and started the name calling?

!!!!!! also introduced the 'retard' and 'negro' thread. God only knows why because it made him look like a bigot on that thread and now again on this one.

On the subject of usernames, isn't it strange that the people who 'support' !!!!!!? all joined in the last couple of months?
