Don't think I can really add much to what others have said, but I agree with those who have recommended The Paper Mill shops, Craft Creations, and The Works/Banana Bookshop (not sure if two different shops owned by the same parent company, or if The Works is now Banana Bookshop)
I buy all my card at The Paper Mill these days - I love their A4 and A5 boxes that you fill with a choice of card and paper from a wide selection of types and colours - the A4 box is £6.99, and the A5 box is £3.99 (if only buying A5, you can put A5 card in an A4 box, so you can get double the amount of an A5 box for a £1 less - ok not a huge amount, but you can always buy something else with that £1!) You can mix card and paper, so the number of sheets you can fill your box with depends on the quantity of card vs paper, but I usually manage to get 100's of sheets in a box (at work at the mo, otherwise I'd go and roughly count the latest box for a better idea) They do some pretty spectacular promotional bargains too - a few weeks ago they were selling packs of 50 blank cards with envelopes for £2.99 a pack, instead of £7.99. I think that works out at 3p per card and 3p per envelope. So I bought one pack of white, one pack of cream, and one pack of assorted colours - will be making all my own Christmas cards this year! Cheaper, and more personal to boot.
I've been crafty (hee hee) for the past 17-18 years - I started off at a time when it was pretty difficult to get hold of materials - now there's crafty stuff everywhere!DFW no.554 - Proud to be dealing with my debts :TDAVID TENNANT CAN PROBE ME WITH HIS SONIC SCREWDRIVER ANYTIME...:AFLYING THE FLAG FOR THE CAMBRIDGE BOOTS TARTS :happyhear0 -
The works has an online shop now, thought I'd give scrapbooking a try and get some more stuff for making cards with. They have mini 'romance' scrapbooking kits for £1.49 and some fun embellishments and stickers as well as card blanks. Not as big a choice as when you go in a store, but it will help for all those who don't have a 'The Works' near them
Just had an email from hobbycraft saying they have a ½ price sale and there looks to be some bargains, so if you have a local hobbycraft then nows the time to go and stock up! The nearest one to me is nottingham which is farrrrr awayNSD Challenge 2010:Jul 12/12; Jun 21/14 :T; May : 6/6

Anyone here do digital scrapbooking? I love it!
I could never get into paper scrapbooking because it seems to (a) cost too much (b) take up so much room and (c) be messy.
Digital scrapbooking on the pc is so easy and you dont need loads of space for your stash, you can just leave it without having to pack it all away, adn best of all you can undo or redo and use your stash over and over!
Loads of free stuff - programs and the scrapbooking kits - out there too so you could try it out for no cost.
I visit quite a few sites, mostly American at the moment, but a few UK ones coming along. Anyone who's interested in more info pm me.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Hello, I make sure i copy all of my photo's onto a disc/cd on the computer-so if anything did happen to the photo's in my scrapbooks i've still got copies ready to print off again.
You can do scrapbooking on the computer too, and print out the pages but obviously you won't have all the interesting textures and things stuck in which i like.
I've brought cheap things for my scrapbooking from poundland, the works, a local store called 'hootys' which is great for this kind of thing. I don't buy from QVC or any of the expensive brand named stuff, it's a waste of money in my eyes when you can shop around and get cheaper things but are still high quality etc.

Partners had scrapbooking stuff on a "three for the price of two" offer last time I went in-don't know if the offers still on but worth checking.0

Money-saving scrapbookers might also like a look at 'Budget Scrapbooking' by Memory Makers (ISBN 189212744X). The UK Scrappers website is excellent, and the two UK magazines (The Scrapbook Magazine and Scrapbook Inspirations) are also worth a look - there are often budget challenges and ideas for using household objects in imaginative ways!
Another free source of inspiration which hasn't yet been mentioned is to subscribe to the emails which the US scrapbook magazines send out. Yes, they're advert-laden (mainly with promotions for their new books), but they also contain tips, ideas, and links to clips demonstrating techniques, etc.
Hope that helps someone!Have I said something useful?

joanne__rose wrote: »Thanks for the useful tips. I went onto UK Scrappers and have been reading through their forums. There's an store not too far from me in Bracknell which I intend to visit, and WH Smiths are trying out a scrapbooking range in 5 stores. One of them is Glasgow and I'm going there next month so will definitely check it out.
The shop in Bracknell is good, there was also one in Wokingham but not sure if it's still there (called Wishes & Kisses). Hobby Craft in Reading offer a good range but they tend to be a bit expensive and I'm sure I saw some scrapbooking bits and pieces in the Reading WHSmith too.
