I've seen scrapbooking mentioned a few times in this forum and it's something I'd really like to try. Please can anybody give me some tips on how to get started etc... I've seen some Creative Memories stuff, but it's so expensive! And I'd like to know this is not going to be a 5 minute wonder before I heavily invest in this.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I've been wondering the same thing. I keep a journal (sporadically) and take lots of photos and hold on to little mementos and would like to do something a bit prettier with them all.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

I love scrapbooking and have been doing it for a couple of years now. I have spent a lot, but you don't need to to get started.
I would advise visiting the forum
http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/index.php
There is lots of info on there and links to on-line scrapbooking shops. Just beware though, it does become addictive.

If you look in the works they sell a starter kit for about a tenner, I bought one of these for my mother in law last year and she loved it.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

i went to a creative memories class and agree their stuff is expensive. i bought a couple of basics. poundland here sold out v.quickly of their scrapbooking packs. lakeland has cardmaking stuff which is versatile. anywhere you go, keep your eyes open for possibilities and look for "acid free".
there are scrapbooking type magazines, which seem to give freebies each month.
i intend to do a book each for my three (now grown up) children so they can have family memories to take away with them. although it is possibly a project for my retirement.0 -
Hi
If you are near a Paper Mill Shop (normaly in McArther Glen Designer Outlet's) they have some scrap books and also the card at a reasonable price. Worth a look if you are passing!:wave:0 -
Thanks for the useful tips. I went onto UK Scrappers and have been reading through their forums. There's an store not too far from me in Bracknell which I intend to visit, and WH Smiths are trying out a scrapbooking range in 5 stores. One of them is Glasgow and I'm going there next month so will definitely check it out.
Thanks again.0 -

I have been scrapbooking for about 1 yr now. Beware, it is highly addictive!!!
it can sometimes be a bit expensive, but a warning: dont waste your time and money on anything that is not acid-free!
I sometimes spoil myself if i have the extra money-it is worth it though, Scrapbooking means preserving your photo's and keepsakes for a lifetime, therefore the 'acid-free' products.
A good idea is to attend a few scrapbooking classes or crops as they call it. You then learn the basics and can then decide if its something u really wanna do.
Also, when you go to these classes, you use their materials, so if you are just starting out you dont have to invest too much in it.
There are loads of scrapbook websites with ideas, tricks and tips.
Dont know where you live, but i believe the shop in Bracknell is the closest to me as well, haven't been there yet though!
