  • one thing that is really good, a sleeve board, makes the shirts so much easier, that and cotton wool balls for the shoes/boots. Hubbie does Recruit Training Squadron for RAF, that would be his top two, that and a good hair cut.
Paperwork on school is for all sorts of reasons, if thay don't use it, phase two will as most recruist are put through an Apprenticeship and it may get them out of some exams, that's what I do.
They're NOT allowed blades, that includes scissors and hair clippers strangely, yet they have to shave....

He has taken cotton wool balls and when he is maybe home for a long weekend I will send him back with a sleeve board if he needs it.
He had his hair cut 2 days before he left here but they made him have another when he got there to tidy it up.

  • Im guessing hes at the ATR in Winchester? If so my husband works there and Im sure he would of took the clay pigeon shooting thing. Whats ur sons name? Il see if he remembers him ;)
  • Hi loo was wondering how ur son is getting on? My daughter is in her 2nd week and loving it apart from being tired but she knew that before she went lol. I haven't had the phone call to say "I want to come home" but i don't expect it unless there was something really wrong as she puts her all into everything she does! I hope he is doing well and his journey wasn't to bad it will fly in. :T

    hi pollyanna 78.
Its nice to hear from other parents of trainees.
I hope I wont get "the phone call". I had a little chat with ds before he left and he said he would stick it out no matter what. So that is just me worrying, I am sure this will be less as time goes on.
His journey wasnt so bad after all, again just me worrying and him. The army have said he can fly back home next time because he now has photo i.d. Two planes and home in half the time. We live 4 miles from airport so hell be home quick not missing any leave he gets.
He got his uniform yesterday and was impressed he was especially impressed with the gas mask. I can't wait to see him wearing his uniform, not the gas mask:rotfl: .
Is your daughter at Winchester too?
    Does she ring often?
WE should start a little club parents of trainees.

Tell him it's not a gas mask it's a respirator - he will get a telling off if he keeps calling it a gas mask. Best of luck to him and you too.
