Impressed with London

On Thursday 3rd Nov, I went to London for the day with my daughter for some embassy work.
I was impressed with the capital city. I was only really in Zone 1 on the travel card, so can only speak for that part of the city.
It was clean and tidy. The buildings seem well decorated and clean, Public transport was excellent, and cheap. Masses of food and coffee shops. Friendly people, helpfull underground staff. I felt safe too.
The whole feeling and day was very positive. Nice one LONDONERS!
Perhaps the only negative would be the cab drivers, they seem in too much of a hurry and don't give way for pedestrians. I was almost hit by one who was driving in a dedicated left turn lane, but carried straight on and honked his horn to clear pedestrians out of the way who were unaware he was going to abuse the traffic regulation. But that was a minor blip on the day.
Cheers, I look forward to retunring next month with the family

You are spot on there, you do have to be careful with them. When getting off a bus at London Victoria is a major danger zone for me.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Our family - 6 of us in total, had a great time in London last weekend. We did all the touristy things like Harrods, Hamleys, London Eye and Thames cruise. Some great meals and travelling on public transport was good fun too.
The only downer was having my purse stolen from my backpack between central London and Stansted - but as we were on the way home there was no cash left in it!! I cancelled my credit cards -which hadn't been used and even the £20 on my Boots Advantage card was still intact!! So it could have been much worse.0 -
Hamleys is on the left hand side of Regent St, going from Oxford Circus, towards Picadilly. These would be the nearest tube stations - someone from London could comfirm this.
If you're going, get there early as it gets crowded v quickly - especially at weekends and at this time of year.0 -
Hamleys had a life sized soft toy giraffe in there, yours for £3500.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

Hello
I do not post very often but this is one time that I will.
I loathe London.
I think it is dirty and the most of the people are rude and have no time for anyone but themselves.
The only time I venture to the city is when I am going to a TV recording,a show in the West End or concert at Wembley and spend my time in the vicinity of where I have to be.
It is always a relief when I am on the train as it pulls out of Waterloo or in my car heading out of town.0 -
surprised that you still go to London, chipper0
