Its a good job i don't have face to face contact with these people!

This is exactly why I chose a local solicitor, one I can visit in my lunch breaks! Although with me its the other solicitor that seems to be dragging things :(

Ah! Tis a shame, mine said after the first one she did she swore she wouldn't do another, as p4p were a pain to deal with. However she still agreed to take mine on, if I paid her an extra £50 +vat, lol.

The surveyor has now been instructed by the coop , can anyone tell me what happens next? Do I wait for the homebuyers report and the final mortgage offer and then enter the 4 week P4P wait? I so wouldn't have a clue without this thread!

Yep, that's pretty much the case. You should get a phone call from the surveyor taking payment, they will then schedule in teh survey. In the meantine they will send you terms and conditions which you need to sign and send back - they will only release teh survey once you've done this.

Next, Co-op process your offer and send to the underwriters. The only hitch is that the survey might throw up something they want investigated further.

My survey has just come back saying the Co-op want a specialist damp and timber report. Aaargh! Am almost totally sure it's fine, as my friend who is a builder looked at the flat with me and was pretty happy with it. However, I need to get it sorted. Does anyone have any recommendations as to who I should get to do a damp and timber report? I've had quotes ranging from 80-350 quid. Am I missing something? Am I a fool if I go for the cheap report? Everyone I've spoken to is registered with the Property Care Association.

Countrywide will call you to take payment for the survey (mine was £525), they will do the survey send a copy to co-op, 2 copies to you.

Co-op should then assess and make an offer to you, and advise P4P by email that they have made the offer

Once P4P have this email you will be on 4 week wait

BUT KEEP CHASING CO-OP AND P4P (after co-op say they sent email to p4p) EVERY DAY, until you are on the 4 week wait

Thank you thats a great help. I have made the £525 payment now so hopefully things will start moving and then I will start chasing. Found out today that the solicitor hasn't even bothered to contact EA yet RAR!
  • I just wanted to say thank you so much to all the people who have taken the time and effort to put their experiences of the scheme on here. Your advice and information has been invaluable to me.

To any one still in the scheme (Including me) the key to keeping things on track is to make sure all the relevant parties (Yourself, your solicitor, your estate agent, own home and the coop) are all talking to each other at each and every point of the process. It still amazes me that despite paying the majority of these stakeholders quite considerable sums of money they still need babysitting reguarly!

The process can be very stressful but keep going and eventually I hope we will all emerge as home owners very soon.

Hi, my Damp and timber report cost £50.00 basically as long as the company who do it are on the accepted register of the co-op, you will be fine...
  • i agree there Playboy Optima Legals mignons are nothing but useless, only once have i managed to get through and speak to the actual solicitor (mignons must have been sick and not able to pick up his phone) and even then it was like trying to drag blood from a stone from him! Also my local solicitor even suggested that we should use O.L as she had never used the scheme and said it would of been wiser, however she would of taken it on but could incurr long delays seeing she had never done it. Oh well i`d better not be getting billed on top of my actual bill from them for making them having to answer there phone to me even though its an 0870 number!!!gggrrrrrr or them having to ring me!!
