Recieved final set of loan docs from P4P via solicitor this morning. Will get them signed and off in the post over the weekend. Hopefully will be able to exchange next week with a view to completing on the 29th September - if I miss that then I can't get time off work until the end of October!!

Fingers crossed solicitor gets things moving!

Excellent! Let you solicitors know and double check they have done all the searches, queries, etc, else there will be delays when you are all ready to go.

Unfortunately, just received a letter through the post stating the scheme has now come to a close in the London area and there will be no more funding for this and next year....

aarrrrrrghhhhhhhh and was now getting so close to finding a property as I have time off from work. So frustrated and depressed now......

not sure what the options are now for a ftb with limited resources
  • Hey guys found myself in a sticky situation with annoying EA

Firstly our offer has been accepted by the selling company and are mortgage is in place and P4P loan secured as most you guys know, however it has been advertised between 2 EA`s, and yesterday morning our EA informed us that the other EA has a potential buyer and if we can not get an exchange date sorted soon from P4P that the company may pull out as they are not happy with this scheme??? now im sure he`s using scare tactics as most EA`s do and is just wanting to get his commision for next months pay packet!! We have rang P4P and they are currently dealing with applicants whose mortgages where approved on the 18th August. We were not approved until the 26th Aug and they said it could still take a few weeks??

Anyone be able to give me some advice on how i should approach the matter and tell that greedy EA to back off im ringing and annoying people but i can not do anything else??

    Cheers guys

    Hi everyone,

How do I go about appointing a solicitor? My EA has recommended two solicitors but I'm thinking I should perhaps go for optima as they are more familiar with the scheme but how do I go about doing that. Hope I don't sound stupid!!

    Hi Ama,

If you read further back down the thread you'll see that some people have had bad experiences with Optima. If you decide to go with your own choice of solicitor, there is no problem if they haven't dealt with the Ownhome scheme before as PfP provide a set of instructions for them. Even i could understand them so unless you're solicitor's a total donut, he should be able to deal with the fact you're a "non-conventional" buyer.

I rang a solicitor recommended by the estate agent. You ask them for a quote for some conveyancing. If you like the price then you "instruct them" to start the conveyancing process. After a week or so they may ask for some money up front to cover some of their costs (mine asked me for £350).

    Hope this helps.
