I read the MSE article here: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/reclaim-lost-assets-free/#banking
It suggests using My Lost Account so I registered there a week ago and had no email. I tried phoning but no answer, just a recorded message. I tried again today, same thing. This make me think My Lost Account no longer exists. Can anyone confirm?

I have been trying to reclaim my Barclays dormant account since January 2021 and am finding the process very slow.
The Dormancy team initially sent me a letter saying the account was empty which was untrue. Now they are repeatedly asking me for the same information about where to send the funds even though I have been into a local branch to verify my identity and clarify which account to send funds to, on several occasions. Barclays opened a complaints process then closed it the next day!
I have now asked the Financial Ombudsman to get involved and now Barclays are saying that they can't talk to me because of this.
I just want MY money back and don't understand why Barclays are not releasing it back to me after 4 months of asking.
Is there anything else I can do to speed the process up?0 -
Now you've gone to FOS, you'll have to wait on them to look at your complaint, but that could take many months or longer.
I wouldn't expect anything this year with everything that's going on.0 -
I need help with getting money back on an old Instant Access Share a/c that my sister & I opened to deal with our late mother's legacy. We recently came across the passbook & noticed a small amount was in it. After visiting the local branch & countless phone calls I was told the a/c had been closed but they couldn't tell me when or by whom. They don't reply to my letters and I am at a loss. I don't think they should keep this money, I am still living at the same address but have received no communications relating to this dormant a/c. The a/c was with Portman who were taken over in 2007 by Nationwide.

I have been trying to find any deferred pensions for my brother-in-law, who sadly passed away just before Christmas.
I am quite sure that he had a pension with Radio Rentals/Thorn EMI, but when I email Pension Insurance Corporation (who bought out the pension fund in 2008) they just respond with a box standard, cut-and-paste response referring to my pension details and not regarding my brother-in-laws.
I have registered an account with Gretel, as this has been recommended by MSE, to see if I can get any further with this pension search. Unfortunately, the Gretel website states I must have legal documentation (e.g. Power of Attorney) before I can search for someone else.
Neither myself nor his widow have such documentation, so we are unable to use Gretel, as has been recommended by MSE.
MSE has asked for feedback on Gretel, so I'm reporting this stumbling block here.
Any suggestions?
I am sure I have the correct company for my brother-in-law's pension.0
