I think Harvey had reason for losing cool due to aggresive and repeated questioning on unrelated topics introduced to fuddle the question. Sophistry is a vice for the wary and works better one to one, where personality can carry, rather than an open forum.

Well Harveybobbles, you got em all stirred up that time. Methinks of too much protestation. biggrin.gif

    Heh hardly.

Anyone can cower behind there keyboard and screen and throw insults around.

Personally I like to do mine face to face.

You get a much better reaction. ;)

Well how am I the thick one as you have just totally contradicted yourself?

Perhaps you should read are posts more carefully before making yourself look even more silly then you already do.

The moving house boxes and my phone from 02 didn't come from eBay - which is what this thread was about...

02 used DHL, but I wasn't in when they delivered so I had to go to their depot. I never paid for postage, it's all built into the upgrade.

The moving house box was delivered by a dirty man in an equally dirty van. Again it was a free delivery, and again it wasn't aquired via ebay...

Obviously sellers who massively overcharge for post and packing will suffer now that they are rated on that charge, if that means they leave in droves then maybe ebay was not the right venue for them.

Most sellers manage to understand post and packing charges well enough to stay above the 4.4 required for optimum visibility so ebay have achieved what they set out to do, lose the sellers that irritated the buyers by fee gouging and keep those who manage to understand the rules and treat buyers fairly.

I have experimented with free postage , postage at cost and adding some on for my packing and other expenses. As long as I keep my p and p reasonable my stars don't vary more than 0.1 of a star..so it does rather suggest that all buyers want is 'reasonable' postage, not necessarily free or even at cost.

True but i recently charged someone 50p more than the postmark stated and i got an earful about overcharging them - they didn't consider the fact that packaging costs too - in fact the funny thing is i'd had to buy the jiffy bag single from my corner shop and that cost me 59p and i had left the price sticker on the jiffy bag so they must've seen it ( Blimming expensive i know but i had run out and couln't make the 40min train journey that day to get to Brighton (Poundland) to stock up - so effectively i'd dipped into my own pocket that day as it'd come to more than i'd charged her and rather than delay the parcel a day i decided to buy the jiffy bag at the over inflated price and send the parcel out so the buyer could have it next day - And thats the thanks you get!) I think it is wrong to mark someone down badly on a small minor if the overall service is very good! And yes, when you buy from New Look or the likes they send via standard Royal Mail delivery - yet you could buy a pair of earings that cost under £1 to send, they'll still charge £3.95 ;) and you can't really complain as it's a choice whether you want to buy it or not before commiting to those costs!

Some buyers are ridiculous in their arguments and inconsiderate if you ask me - these are the ones that mark down on stars when really you have gone over and beyond to offer a good service, they just must be too mad or blind to see it. Most are still lovely buyers though!

To be fair you knew the P&P before your bought it, so its something that should have been thought about prior to purchase.

As a seller I find it very frustrating getting marked down on this particular line.

OP i have to say i sincerly hope you never buy anything from me you sound like a right pain in the a55.

For a start the box to not display the postage cost is usually selected by default when you print postage labels via paypal so to mark him down on stars would actually be to mark him down for not unticking the box rather than actually trying to avoid displaying the amount by ticking the box.

at the end of the day you chose to buy the goods so you must have been happy with the overall price including the postage so why are you going to such lengths to find something to complain about?

and to whoever suggested you weigh the item and cross check his charge against royal mails standard charges can i just say.....O.M.F.G!! get a hobby or something because you clearly have nothing to do with your time but complain about every little thing.

Two fine examples of why i now sell EVERYTHING with free postage, what you gonna complain about now..ha ha :p

But here's the best bit for you profesional moaners my postage isn't free, it's included in the price, maybe you could complain about that??

    losers!
